choosing a used motor

    Looking at a couple of used boats and what it is going to come down to is the engine on the back. What do i want to stay away from. Looking at a 06 90hp mercury, 03 115hp yamaha 4 stroke, and a 05 90hp evinrude e-tec. All the engines have low hours. I will buy the hat after I get the engine so not looking for the ford vs chevy debate. If any one has info about problems these engines have it would be great if you could help me out. Thanks

    I dont have any expierence with Mercury or the etec in those H.P., but my fishing partner runs a 115 yamaha 4 stroke tiller with close to 600 hours on it. The motor runs great and he has had zero issues. Hope this helps.

    no expereince with the mercury, but the yammie and the etec should both serve you well.

    Have a friend with a 90 e-tec and had the power head redone 3 times.

    Google all three on the net and you will see the difference.
