I have a 2013 16′ Lund Alaskan and would like to put a trolling motor on it. I do fish pool 4,5a,5 and 6 in the spring for walleyes and mainly panfish during summer and fall. Boat is wired for 12/24 volt. Looking for opinions on bow mount or transom mount advantages and disadvantages of either one. I don’t have much experience with either one, so looking for some advice on them before I buy one. I see there is a big price difference between the two. Would like to stay around $700 + batteries. Just don’t want to buy one then not be happy and have to buy another. Thanks for any advice.

Where do you fish the most? Bow or stern?

i am not going to much here had 1825 rebel with 80 lb terrova with i pilot on the front. i would use the big motor to back troll and the trolling motor to help keep the bow were i wanted it. i like that set until a bought my new boat this last winter end up 1875 pro guide put a vantage on the back along with ulterra on the front. I really like that set the best can put boat anywhere i want it.

If i had to choose one or the other i would put bow mount on first.
