Eyetroller thank you for the information. As you can see being from Illinois there is not a whole lot of big water around here. What are you taking for a big boat. What would you consider big enough. As far as the beginning of the trolling season are you referring to crank baits or night crawler harnesses? What about lines? Do you use braided like the river or mono what would you recommend? First time to Lake Eerie, pretty excited, hope I don’t have too many questions. Looking for the 10lb’r for the wall. Don’t know if this is the right time of the year or not. You say you don’t have to travel very far. How far do you have to travel out? I do have a GPS, is there any other gear you would recommend to have before going out? Thanks for the reply back. Good luck on the lake. Let me know how you do. Walleyehunter6

I was out on Saturday. Water is still low and very warm. I mainly concentrated on pan fish. Stayed around Savanna mostly. Caught a few small ones and several rough fish. I didn’t do any walleye fishing on this trip, but I would think they would need cooler water to turn on. I think I am going to wait a couple of weeks to go out. Hopefully this cold front coming through will cool things off at night. I am not sure what you were looking to catch. I know the area fairly well if you want to email me back.
    Thanks,

Glad to see another guy from the area on the board.

Does my child need a fishing license?

Wisconsin residents and non-residents 16 years old or older need fishing license to fish in any waters of the state. Children under 16 years of age do not need a fishing license. Children have their own bag limits and are expected to follow the same fishing regulations (e.g., length, bag and season limits) that licensed anglers are required to follow.

Children do not need to be accompanied by a licensed adult to fish. However, if your child wants to take a break from fishing, make sure he or she reels in rather than abandons the pole to you. If your help is needed to cast or reel in, make sure you have your license with you, because you are now fishing. Also, on occasion, well-meaning adults get pinched — warden lingo for caught — for fishing without a license or with too many hooks when they get caught “holding” their youngster’s fishing pole. According to state law, no angler may fish with more than three hooks, baits or lures.
