Interesting and makes sense. I have a room booked the last weekend of April. I will keep hopeful. What tournament is on April 28?

Im really happy with the factory cover that Lund is using now. The cover is made by Dowco. The fabric is absolutely awesome material. Im not sure where they are located, but worth checking into.

Check all the hose fittings and water pumps for live wells. All it takes is for a crack in the hose or pump housings to cause major leaks. For example I have seen where the factory has over tightened the hose clamps and broke the plastic pump hose fittings.

There should be some screws on each side of the middle floor panel on the carpeted flange coming down to the floor from the live well. Unscrew these screws and pry up the flange carefully and then you will be able to slide the panel out towards the front of the boat. Its tight and a pain but it will slide out.

To fix the fuel issue with having to fuel it up slow, this is what I have done in the past. You have to check both the main gas line and the vent line for bends in the line. Basically if you have a dip in the line where gas will not run back to the tank it will cause the gas when fueling fast to bubble back up the filler tube. To fix just cut and shorten the line that needs to get rid of the dip.

The fuel smell issue can be a few things. Make sure all lines are hose clamped, make sure the vent is open, check the tank and make sure the seal on the sender is not leaking, check the fuel inlet and outlets on the tank to make sure they are sealed tight.

You hit the nail on the head. I proposed this to my wife along time ago, “if I quit going out with the guys and quit smoking can I buy a boat”? She said yes, well I have bought many boats since then. Much better investment with my time.

“So my questions is what do you all do to afford these boats? I mean how much do you make that you can justify putting 50-60-70 thousand plus into a boat? I must me missing something here?”

Its a easy question to answer. I do not make much money. I however do not spend money on all the other things people indulge on. Such as going out to eat, buying fancy clothes, huge expensive TV’s, I do not go on fancy vacations. My house is a normal house, which is paid for. I just love to fish and choose to buy a nice boat over having the other things. If you budget properly a person making a average income can afford it.

Im looking for something portable. I do understand the capibilities are reduced compaired to a mounted system. I just do not use the VHF enough to justify drilling holes in the boat, lol. Really the only time I need a VHF is for tournament take offs. Your phones pretty much takeS care of everything else as far as communicating and such. Just looking for a good reputable brand. Thanks!

A cranking battery works just fine. I have been running all my accessories and graphs off a single m24 size cranking battery for years. The batteries are designed different for specific reasons. This information is best to hear from a battery profesional. Throughout the years of rigging boats I have heard all sorts of smoke blown about why someone thinks it should be one way vs another. If the boat is properly rigged a cranker is all you need. All my graphs are hooked to my main power source panel. No need to run wires to a battery if your power source is correctly working. Most of the time people have a power draw somewhere. Running longer wires is not the answer.

The 202 is made in Sea Rays plant. The glasswork is about as good as it gets. The fit in finnish is superior campared to other brands in my opinion. The 250 Opti proxs will run around 56-58 mph depending on conditions. The holeshot is good. Jbobs boat has a jackplate on it and the boat really performs. Not only on plane but trolling. Jim and I fished on Mille Lacs and he let me control the boat. I was impressed on how well the nose tracked with little effort. Having the lighter engine on the back makes a big difference. I also think the opti gets better gas mileage at wide open throttle too. Take Jbob up on his offer before you buy. You might like his boat and get a good deal on it as well. Jim is on Lunds Prostaff.

The 202 is a awesome boat. Handles the waves great and trolls even better. You should talk to Jim Peters, he is a regular on this site. I bet he would take you out. Heck he might even sell ya his boat.

Mostly recreational and a few of AIM MN tournaments. I have gone through American Family in the past. They have been good, but the premium seems high.

Pull the valve infront of the pump. The valves were put together wrong. If you pull the screws out and watch how the valves work you will see that they are in the wrong position. Reposition the valves so the water will flow in the fill mode. That was a known flaw with the valve company. Definitely purchase the 60 in shaft.

So when the AIM tournament is over on Sunday,I suppose they will most likely use the totals from the overall catch to go towards the quota. Does it work that way after a catch n release tournament?

After a weekend using the Insight chip I am pleased to say that the chip is identical to the latest version of the lake master chip. I am going to try reverting back the software on of one my 8’s back to the 2.5 version. I have a bunch of lake master cards for different areas and don’t feel like I need to spend more money on new chips.

I bought a lowrance insight pro 15 chip. It appears to be the same chip as the old lake master chip. The only issue I see with it is the vegitation green crosses clutter up the screen. Anyone figure out how to get rid of the green crosses?

So reverting the software worked. Thats funny when I asked the Lowrance rep about reverting it back he said the lake master chip still would not work. I have a copy of the 2.5 version. I will have to try it then. Thanks!

I was thinking of going with a new Motorguide and that was the only reason. The mapping also had some enhancements to the upgrade which allowed for different capabilities into shading the contours and zooming in and out faster.

Nope, my units had the 2.5 version software, which the lake master worked great in. I have been a fan of Lowrance for many years, but when they do stuff like this and not make you aware of what the upgraded software will completely do is wrong. If the units worked with the chips when you bought them they should never have messed with it. Poor customer relations and very dirty pool. I have pushed for a lot of customers to buy Lowrance throughout the years, but this might have just pushed me over the edge. I got a kick out of the customer service rep saying we cant fix it to make it work with the lake master. I laughed at him and said you programed it to not work, did you not? Then you should be able to correct it. The almighty green back wins again!

Yes it is possible, but be prepared for a healthy price to come with it. If your mechanical and can do the work yourself you could save some money. I believe you would have to swap both counsels and then add the glass. The actually work is not to bad, its just very time consuming. You might want to think about selling the boat you have and buying a full windshield boat. I might be selling my 2012 1975 IFS this summer.
