2x on the dedicated ground, fixed my problem when I did it a few years back.

Wow, that is a stud, way to go. I bet that was a sleepless night, waiting to find him.

Not cheap but really work well for saltwater are the St. Croix Tidemaster Travel rods, 3 piece 7 foot medium action handles most inshore fish. If you keep an eye on Ebay you may be able to get a reconditioned one for around 100 bucks.

I with James, Humminbird was great to work with, good to see a company that cares about its customers.

I have the Clam Lithium Ion, I installed a usb plug I bought on Amazon so I can have it plugged in. Quietest one I have owned. Nice not to have to change batteries.

I second what tight_lines wrote, a few years back a couple of people in my hunting group switched to SSTs, they may be great for long range field hunting, but we lost three deer at under 40 yard shots. I am guessing there is little expansion or as good of shockwave at close range.Nothing beats good old lead. I really like Rottweil® 12 Gauge 2 3/4″ 1 1/4 oz. Laser Plus Sabot Slugs.

I talked to customer service (super nice) and they were able to verify that my chips readers aren’t working, sending it in, hopefully it will be quick. Thanks for everyone’s help.

I am guessing the card reader on the Helix is jacked.

I tried ex-fat, they were fat-32, when I insert the card it freezes up.

I am not sure, they are SD cards from my trail cams, I removed all files and emptied trash before adding the update to the card. I try reformatting. Thanks

Ok, I am trying to do the firmware update but I can’t get the card to read, I have tried four different cards. Tried in both slots.

x2 on the dedicated ground wires, I think I got that tip here a while back. I upgraded to LEDs and kept blowing fuses, rewired all and haven’t had any issues since.

Awesome, thanks for the update. It was really tough last year not throwing net.

I switched from my St. Croix musky rods to Penn Rampage 7′ MH Boat Casting Rods, they are 60 bucks on Amazon, nice looking and bulletproof.

Thanks for the information Steve, I ended up not buying a dip net after reading Brian’s post about how difficult is was. Hope that law gets passed next year, I miss throwing the net.

x2 on the Badlands monster fanny, it has room for all the things you will need on a daytrip for elk. I found that when I carry a full sized pack, after a few days of hunting I end up leaving it at camp and only taking essentials with me, which can be dangerous if you get into bad weather or an injury. Another thing I like about the monster is that when you are sneaking it is less likely to get caught up on low branches.

Hey Brian, thanks for bringing up cast nets with the WI DNR, it would be great if MN and WI would get on board with this. Cast netting really adds a fun aspect to the sport. And I know last year, it was tough to see a big school of shad on the Wisconsin side and not be able to throw a net at them, and it will be really tough not throwing a cast net anywhere this year.

Thanks wildbeaver. It seems like it would be really tough. Still on the fence if I should buy a net.

I have a 2012 F150 and I ran into the same issue as you. There is a fuse for the trailer in the engine compartment fuses, I forget which one but it is a square blue one, they are under two bucks at the Ford dealer. I ended up rewiring the trailer this year because I was blowing the fuse every couple months. Since rewiring I haven’t had any issues.

I am going with the 10. I waited too long though, Amazon had them for prime members for 800 bucks plus tax and that deal came and went. Thanks for the input.

I haven’t been out since last Wednesday, most of the shad I was marking were in the 10 to 15 foot range. I did find a few schools close to the surface.
