Typically that motor is a little slow getting out of the hole. We usually put on a 4 blade prop and that helps out alot.

The solas rbx 102 will work in your quicksilver props. They do have softer shifting in and out of gear. The solas hub are very hard to take out of the prop once there in and been used.

I would not go with the laser prop its a poor performing prop. I would go with a Powertech NRS3 18 it will perform alot better, it will get your rpms up, better holeshot, handling, holding power in corners better bowlift and will be just as fast as your 21 pitch now if not alittle faster.

Yes quicksilver Nemesis and the Mercury Spitfire are exact same prop, just different part #s.

If you want to stay with aluminum prop, I would for sure try out a Quicksilver Nemesis. It will have better holeshot and grip. A 19 should be what you need.

19 tempest is what you want.

Typical yamaha prop they always blow out in corners. If you want to stay with aluminum prop I would highly suggest the new quicksilver nemesis 4 blade. That prop has out performed stainless props on some setups. And has very good grip for a aluminum prop.

    I have a 13 1/2 diameter X 15p aluminum.
Dealer is suggesting a 16p Vengeance.

I would recommend the 16 vengeance or the 16 quicksilver silverado same prop alittle cheaper since you don’t have the mercury mname stamped in in.

The apollo is not a good prop for most setups, not enough cupping. What setup are you running?

Raise it up a hole at a time, see how it runs. As far as jackplate they help alittle but you usually don’t see a huge improvement.

I have a 1875 pro v ifs with a 200 verado, it runs 53-54 @ 6200 rpm with a tempest plus 21p, any sugestions on which prop to try next to get over the 55 mark, I don’t know if a 23p would be too much.

A blueprinted and balance 21 tempest will get you a couple more mph.

Queston for Propman, I just bought a 2003 1750 Fishawk with a 115 4-stroke Yamaha with a 25 inch transom. I have a 19p 3 blade aluminum. Top end is 40 mph. I want to keep this one for a spare and get a new aluminum. What do you recommend?
Thanks to all the IDO’ers for all the great post!!!

What rpms you running with that 19 pitch?

Hey guys I run a 2007 Crestliner 1750 fishhawk with a merc 115 4-stroke. I’m trying to find the right prop for my boat. I was running a hustler 13 3/4×15 aluminum and I would max out at 38-40 mph and according to the tach I was at about 6000 rpms. It’s a little slow on plane but I tried a 13 1/4×17 and figured I’d add a hydrofoil if things got too bad in that dept. Well I ran it this weekend and it went totally backwards. My plane time was similar but instead of gaining speed I lost a ton. I maxed out at 34 mph and was at about 6400 rpms and if I trimmed up even just a little I’d go over my max rpms and loose speed and forward bite. I don’t know if this is prop wash. So now I’m thinking of trying a13x19. But I’m just confused how I lost so much top end going from a 15″ to a 17″. Thanks for the help.

We’ve had very good results with the new Quicksilver Nemesis 4 blade props if you want to stay in aluminum. For Stainless the Powertech RAF is a excellent prop for your setup.

Go down to a 11 pitch 3 blade that will help quite abit. Or even a 4 blade will help alot.

Sorry, for got to mention it is a plain old quicksilver alum. from Fleet Farm. I don’t have the coin for a SS right now and I usually wreck one every year or two while exploring canadian lakes.
I’m looking to get on plane a little better with more people in the boat and maybe a bump in speed if possible, or do I give up one for the other?

You shouldn’t lose any speed going down to a 19 since your picking up rpms. Another prop I would put on it would be the new quicksilver nemesis which is a 4 blade that will give you a better holeshot yet and there spose to be faster than there 3 blade. And they run pitch for pitch with the 3 blade.

YOu are over proped you’ll want to go do to 19 pitch it will bring your rpms up to where it should be. Ma rpms are 5750 you want to be at least 5600 rpms.

So propmann, what four blade would you recommend? Right now I’m running the stock 17p black SS, getting about 38 to 39 MPH top end, right at 6000 rpm.

I would run a Powertech RXB4 15 pitch or a Solas Hr4 15 but probaly need alittle extra cupping put into that prop.

Anyone running a 4 blade on there 2000T? My hole shot isn’t bad running the stock prop, but do tend to get a little porpoising if I trim too high. Just looking for suggestions. Thanks!

We setup a couple of them with 4 blade you’ll lose a little on topend but your holeshot and handling will be much better. We put on anywhere from a 15 pitch to 17 pitch 4 blade just depends on how much weight you carry. Your porpoising is caused by your current prop the design, and over pitched and over trimming will then cause it to porpoise.

How’s the ice conditions? Thanks in advance for any info you might have for me.

In most places we where still able to drive off of the plowed roads. Theres at least 2ft of ice if they get anymore ice or snow you’ll need a extension for the auger.

Getting a 2010 Alumacraft Classic 165 Tiller with a yamaha 50hp 4 stroke. I fish the Mississippi and want to put a stainless steel prop on it. Im going to have a 24 volt troller on the bow. Does anybody have this package or have any ideas on what stainless prop pitch ect. would be the best option ?

The size of ss prop all depends on what pitch your running now and the WOT rpms. Most will run around a 12 pitch ss.

I have a 18 ft starcraft with a new 115 optimax I’m running a stainless steel 13.25 X 19. Have to trim up to plane out fully do I reprop or invest trim tabs or jack plate. I’m running at Max rpms as soon as I hit trim button and plane out 48 mph gps I’m open for suggestions

Are you having porposing problems? If not theres no need for trim tabs. I would get a bigger pitched prop and also that is more aggressive then your current one.

the money doesn’t bother me..I only had the prop for two weeks, pissed me off realistically the epoxy wouldn’t stick, I’ll check with some welders, add material, make sure pitch is on and balanced thanks for your input..

Don’t just bring it to a welder make sure you bring it to a national credified prop shop. Check out http://www.nmpa.net to find a one in your area. Typically cost is $140 to $180 to get the prop redone right.

Typically we put on a Powertech RAF 17 pitch will run a hair over 6000 rpms will have better holeshot and topend you’ll see 1 to 2 more. Most important it will be alot harder to get that prop to blow out, unlike your yamaha prop.

I haven’t heard much anything good coming out of the area lakes this week, we had had pretty good luck on Round Lake which is connencted to Gull Chain 2 weeks ago. Best bet is check out what Dave or Jason say at Sportland Bait in Nisswa they will have some great tips for you.

Solas make the aluminum props for BRP. They make the 13.75 x 13. Hard to make a suggestion if you don’t a have a tach. But typically that setup runs either a 13 or 15 pitch prop.

13.25 x 17 will be a good all around prop. Find a place that will let you exchange props if needed.
