How about a wire minnow trap. More durable than a mesh bag.

Big plus of TKI was they replied to emails immediately and answered the phone. Made in Montana and they fabricated a solution for the Humminbird live pole. Arclab has not responded to several emails and voicemail.
As the title suggests, I’m looking at options for Alumatrac mounts for down riggers on Alumacraft boats. Alumacraft 165 CS and Scotty manual downriggers.
It seems like there are a few options for the Alumatrac and I would prefer to not use risers on the inside of the hull to maximize deck space. I also only use downriggers on a few trips a year and remove them after each trip.
There are more options but here are the ones I have narrowed my search down to:
1. Brocraft – they make a rod holder and and DR mount from the same rod holder.
2. Cisco MTALM. These would still need some type of intermediate plate but would be easy enough to mill my own out of aluminum. Emailed them but have a year to hear back.
3. Superior Products DR mount. This appears to be the best but may be too pricey for me without considering the other two options first.
4. Colliflower – Most out-of-the-box friendly and adjustable. However, I don’t like the design as much as the other 3.Does anyone have experience with any of these mounts? I’m leaning towards the Cisco mount but I sent them an email a few days ago and have not heard back yet.
I saw a killdeer in Woodbury and a few cranes in Prescott. Lots of turkey vultures too.
I just got this one from TKI along with the Mega Live pole mount. Haven’t tried it out yet, been too windy!
I have a pair of mourning doves in Cottage Grove. Saw a flicker today in Ravine Park.
I always allow updates. When I said others had this issue I meant on IDO. Maybe Dave Lozier can chime in?
Thanks guys
Yeah it’s just this site. Others have commented on it for quite awhile. Turning sideways allows full screen view. The reply box is full width however.
I used the spray on bleach and it worked. I also scrubbed it with Simple Green and it worked. The bleach is pretty easy to do. The scrub brush was a work out. Neither one lasted long enough. But I have overhanging walnut trees which drop stuff all year.
I heard spring peepers yesterday and was reminded of this joke.
How deep is a frog pond?
knee deep, knee deep, knee deep
I’d make sure it was BPA free. The option I’ve used is a bag from boxed wine. Check REI
They’re not rare, used to be called Marsh Hawk. They like big open fields. Cool to see them hovering in place.
Why do Peruvian owls hang
out in pairs?
Because they’re Inca Hoots!
Good article, it highlights the changes in ownership and in water quality. I remember when the “blue collar, ma and pa resorts” were the thing. Lots of them were managed by Ma during the week while Pa went to work somewhere, even as far as the “Cities”. The resort was his part time job.
Now the ownership of land has changed to those who can afford to tear down and build larger houses. Many owners are part time residents or absentee landlords, or corporations. Land values and property taxes are pricing out smaller units, or people are grabbing the most cash they can get out of their property, and some property is being transferred to other groups.
This is happening to lakes all over Minnesota. Park Point is a major example. Many of the members of IDO are owners or sellers of lakeshore property, myself included, but in a more modest way.
I’m nostalgic for the good old days but realize that money talks. I don’t think there is a right or wrong answer. The biggest issue is to ensure that the lakes themselves are protected.
It’s kind of tedious, but I like to take a veggie peeler to asparagus spears and make long strips. Makes a great raw salad/slaw.
I like it raw too. The whole stalk or for salad then just the tips.
I sent this email to the DNR information address and followed up 9 days later. Have not seen a reply. I was responding to the blurb they posted which seemed so odd.
I read the new Mille Lacs regulations and have a question. Since walleye fishing is good to excellent with multiple year classes showing prominence and bait levels insufficient to satisfy walleye’s hunger, why not lower the walleye population to reduce predation on bait species? Maintaining a balanced system must be critical to fostering the 2021 & 2022 year classes. It appears that the current situation is upside down.
Thank you,

I tried a recipe from Larry Smith’s show today. Chicken breast brined in pickle juice then rubbed with Texas Gold Dust and grilled. It was pretty good with a mild pickle flavor. The chicken was cut in strips and brined for 4 hours. Then I rinsed it, patted dry and seasoned it. Let it sit in the fridge for 4 hours. Then onto the grill.
Nikwax tech wash is recommended for Gore Tex. Regular detergent will clog the pores in the membrane according to mfr. I use the wash-in stuff after cleaning.
For the guys running grundens and saying it’s what the commercial guys use, what set are you running? They have a actual commercial grade set and a bunch of other sets. 500 a pop down to 100 a pop.
Ron I like this for searching. Have bought from them: Backcountry.Com

In 1984, a group of us went on a canoe trip to the Yukon Territory. We traveled about 500 miles down the length of the Big Salmon River and then down the Yukon to Dawson. It was August and salmon migrating up the mighty Yukon had reached their home waters of the Big Salmon. Bald eagles lined the river waiting for the adult salmon to spawn before going through their death throes. My buddy and I saw a large salmon jump out of the river a couple times and then it leapt next to us. It landed on my Duluth pack in front of me and before I could react it flopped back into the river. I had heard the phrase “the fishing was so good they were jumping into the boat” but that’s only time I saw it happen.
