I am a Packer fan, but I have been wondering for years how much of who is winning is being controlled by the NFL. Of course Green Bay is winning they have four prime time games this year. TV ratings would suck if they were losing. Didnt the Vikings have a good year when they were voting on a new stadium? Football is getting closer to All Star wrestling all the time. Hope I’m full oF —– but pro sports is making me wonder.

At least Smeltzer shut them down. Like that kid he always gives a good outing. Sure glad we have Buxton who never plays and a couple prospects in the farm system and not a proven major league starting pitcher from the Mets. And if this is trolling then I guess I am. Still ticked off they didnt do more to bolster the pitching staff. Pitching wins championships.
Take some waders and a few little cleos, gold and orange is best, rainbow pattern also good, wade the mouths of the Onion and Souix Rivers and wade out into the lake and cast in front of the river mouths at sun up. Cohos and browns are entering the rivers now, especially after rain..I used to drag the boat up this time of year and now only fish mostly this way..some trips never took the boat off the trailer. if they are there you will see coho working the surface. couple hours in the morning to fish and you will be back before the wife wakes up.
At Lock 4 in Alma northbound. Impressive looking boat but I like the old paddlewheelers better
you read it wrong projected to go up next week it might be dirty and rising but you will be fine

I have no problem with the new proposed regs…but you want to see a great sauger population on pool four?..extend the March and April refuge line down to the Hwy 63 bridge ..now that would be proactive..
Thought the Buxton post would get some reaction. There is no comparison between Buxton and Cave defensively..if Buxton can stay on the field that would be great. But he doesnt. He certainly isn’t worth another good starting pitcher. Pitching is what will get them deep in the playoffs. Not a centerfielder.
As to Mauer..He was great when he was younger and catching. Good defensive firstbase…very average hitter when switched to first. Worth the investment at that point..I don’t know..not sure his later years were worth it..comparing him and including him with being one of the best Twins of all time no..not even close.
Now with Buxton ready to come off IL (for a few days maybe before another stint, maybe a migrain)I wish they would have packaged him for a good pitcher like the Mets wanted . Cave has played well and there is a log jam of good outfield prospects. He is a spectacular center fielder but thats where it ends. Can’t stay on the field. Who do they send down? Cave does not deserve it. With regular palying time his bat is as good as Buxton. Last years stats were very good. Buxton is not worth a few weeks out of the season that he is able to play. My two cents worth from a fan since the late 60″s.
If your a die hard river rat give up some of the comfort and go light. 16ft v hull or flat bottom. don’t need more than a 25 horse. Use it all year. Able to slide it off the ice and pull it onto ice. handy when landings are froze. Some great ice fishing out there only able to get to by boat. Big is comfortable but not necessary. Small catches just as much fish.
No custom rods here…but I do have three St Croix Premier..five Avids and a Wild Rivers…I know I’m sick but will not go more expensive than that..Ice fishing Im not particular its whatever feels good. never more than $35.00
Get a pair of waders and a few Little Cleos and fish the river mouths such as the Souix and Onion Rivers after Labor day. Coho and browns stage and enter the rivers. Can be alot of fun and simple. I believe Ashland has some shore fishing opportunities and I believe the Chamber Of Commerce has a brochure on that. Have fun.
Weather coming up this week could make things interesting again. I could see another big push of water and an even higher crest. alot of unknowms at this time with this weather system. Don’t let your guard down yet. Historical date of crest crest still to come.
i agree with riverruns. Way to early for final crest. Historically it does not happen until after the 15th. It may drop some but spring storms could push it up again. A big rain event in the next few weeks would be really bad.

Anyone willing to share the conditions at Frontenac. Lots of snow I know but how bad of a pull by hand is it?
i have a 25 E-Tech couldnt be happier.. Idle control on tiller can bring your rpm down. nice for trolling. Electric start with power tilt. lighter weight than a four stroke also pull start for back up. I was hesitant at first but this engine has been bullet proof..starts well even in the cold. something to think about..I have had Mercs and Honda. This is a good running motor.
you cant get any heat going in those diesel buses thats if they will even run in that cold. bus gells up in a rural area it can get serious in a hurry.. especially how they dress to ride the bus. as a rural bus driver I think this is wise..
I thought you never take a shot unless you are sure it is a clean shot, and if your gun is patterend correctly they had to be on top of each other to kill all three or am I wrong about this.
Extend the refuge down river to the 63 bridge for March and April.That will protect the spawners, no more arguing about who keeps what.
And I am not bashing any group or the FLW, they are a fine organization, so if I came off that way I apologize, there has to be consideration for all users of parks and landings, and respect for the hosting communities wishes, agreeing with them or not. Just ticks one off when third hand info is thought of as gospel. Still love Alma even if not mayor anymore, didn’t run again in 2014, hard job, worse than being a police officer which I did over 30 years.
By the way, the dock is in as of yesterday, and yes it is about time.

They were told to stay away from the beach by the City Clerk. Many false stories circulated about this fee which is not true. The only thing the city wants is cooperation for all users so there are not conflicts with swimmers, little league, and recreational boaters. By the way FLW web site listed tourney headquarters as Wal Mart Winona, a motel in Winona for suggested lodging, nothing about Alma, other than the Alma Marina which is a private business. Launch fee was not even in effect at that time. I know the full story because I was the Mayor in question.

In Wisconsin owner cannot sell without a clear title on any titled vehicle…not sure about Minnesota..you knew about the problem before purchase…might as well try for the court order and good luck, might be cheaper to buy a different trailer
