I have a St Croix LES 6’6″ MF. Plenty stiff for jigs and plastics in current, heavy enough for 12-15lb test if you fish rocks or a lot of timber, and real nice backbone.

Haven’t tried an extreme, I could only speculate that
it’s even a bit better.

For those who still want to fish..we went out to Pleasent Creek Sunday morning. 5-6 inches of clear hard ice. Holes from the day before were froze over, and kicking them open wasn’t very easy. It will be making ice all week. Hope the waters where you are will have SAFE conditions to pull a few fish up before we get our long sticks out.

The 1000s are lighter, and good for pitching. The preference
for me is the 2500s just because I like more line capacity.

Head a little south..open water rivers below dams are still producing some fish. I have an Ice 55 I was going to test this week….well open water walleyes are an itch reliever!

We caught some 16″ on the cedar 2 weeks ago. The fish today
were caught on the Iowa river. (the tube level is low)

Ice fishing it’s backwaters 3 days ago with 26″ rods..and today used a 7 foot Avid and NRX with some 3/8ths oz jig heads
