Thanks for the replies guys and my mistake not saying this is a 2-stroke motor. Most of us older guys are familiar with the two clyinder version 50hp but this one looks like a 60hp and 70hp version. Here’s a link to it: http://desmoines.craigslist.org/boa/4480573704.html

And yes while the displacement maybe the same of some motors it is more than jets. That why I put de-tuned in quotes, to account for the urban legend factor.

Maybe running a lot of sand and river muck could do that, or starting after taking out of the water that I see some people do during the winter…

But when it comes to cheaper components that are vital to engine longevity I would stick with OEM parts.

I would highly suggest checking out Columbia Sportswear.

When purchasing water proof clothing from them not only is there a lifetime warranty against broken zippers and manufacturing defects they stand behind it.

I wear the heck out of my waterfowl hunting clothing and have returned multiple jackets. No receipt needed.

Cabela’s started off with a great warranty years ago but it changed a few years ago and they don’t honor the original customers. And yes I am NOT a cabelas fan.

Beware that in 1988(I beleive) transoms went from wood to composite. Can call factory with hull id to determine.

Might be a good time to ask them about floor.

    Good Luck

I beleive you have an intermittent ignition problem, most likely an ignition coil. It warms up and then starts working. This was my exact problem on a merc 115.

When it is missing shut of the key switch and put into neutral at the same time. Then look for the wettest spark plug. Should be the corresponding ignition coil with a problem.

Being a 1995 outboard does it have carbs? If so just bring a small screwdriver along next time trolling, take the hood off and adjust the idle screw.

To locate idle adjustment just have someone exercise the throttle and it will be obvious.

I personally would be very disappointed.

    First with Skeeter…

And just as much with the dealer for not thoroughly checking things over. How much money does a guy to give somebody to get things right instead of half-aedss?

I would highly suggest a marriage counselor. If you both want marriage it will happen.

I bought the troll-omatic (I think this is right) and it works as advertised. Slowed my merc 115 two stroke down to .7 mph crawl. Pitfall is it takes away your steering response. It did hurt my top end by about 4mph.

    But they do work.

It’s going to be very interesting how this plays out in the courts….

From watching the video it seems they have a case. Whether they win or not who knows.

I hear ya, that seems to be my luck also. It just really bugs me when things like this happen after exchanging so much money. Good luck fishing out of the new boat. Sweet ride.

Hate to rain on your parade but you paid how many thousands of dollars and they couldn’t test all gauges? Either at the factory or just as importantly the dealership…

I would just like to find a lake in mn that is a resonable drive for a 3 day weekends any time of year and has some decent panfish, northern, and some walleyes in it.

I have a 14 year old boy that will walleye fish, but really just likes to catch fish.

I also like it that there’s a ton of smaller lakes around it.

The deal is when I go fishing I want to catch fish and there’s times on the Mississippi during high dirty water conditions I would just soon drive north to lake and not struggle.

Basicaly looking for a backup plan when the river is tough.

Perhaps maybe some guys should start packing paintball guns and start re-painting some boats?

Public ramp is open… Was there sunday and fishing was slow. Water clarity down to 10″ already.

My feelings are that the MN DNR is going to do just what any other goverment agnecy does when they get involved. Screw it up even more…

Increasing the limits of pike and smallmouth bass is just rediculous. How this going to fix the root cause which is the walleye issue…

After fives years of use we’ve been very happy with out Bosch dish washer and not so happy with our JennAir down draft stove.

My goal is to catch a bunch of big pike and show my kids a great time on the river. That means a lot of camping on the islands and at the red barn in lansing.

BK is right for the most part. But moving the no fishing zone further downstream and hand out tickets would require the DNR to take action.

So in all reality yes we’re back to flyers…

Can you still get short shaft outboards? That boat looks like a short transom. I would just get another boat and trailer.

I think having Everts handing out a flyer would be a great idea and in their best interest.

My first choice would be a yamaha. And my second and third choice would also be a yamaha. 50hp or 60hp. Probably 60 if fishing with three people a lot.

And since a tiller throw some splash guards on it and speed will never be an issue. I mean back trolling…

Well mplsplug it’s like this. In IA the DNR has concluded in their infinite wisdom that fishing sauger in the deep holes under a dam has no effect on the sauger population. Case in study dubuque dam.

However as an uneducated fisheman (no fancy fisheries degree) it seems to me that simple counting of dead fish downstream as stated above does mean an impact has occurred….

Thanks for the link. After watching that it seems the consumer is getting the shaft on ethanol, especially the boat owner…

In the town I live in a station was fined heavily for selling premium with ethanol blended in it. How often are stations checked?

Last summer I splurged and got myself a pair. After going back to the eye Dr. for the third time I finally gave up. Every pair either made me sick (like motion sickness) or just messed up my eyes. The clarity was perfect but messed my ability to judge distance. For example I walked to a Kwick Star and missed the door handle with my hand.

At the third visit the guy looked at me and asked why they let me get wraps? Said there were the hardest prescription to make… What a deal…

    Good Luck!

You could give your p4 fishing skills a huge jump start just hiring a guide. I would recommend Marty Hahn at http://www.mississippiriverwalleyes.com

Not a bad deal when you consider the knowldedge a guide shares, his boat, gas, bait, lures including jigs and plastics, quality rods and reels.

You could fish a lot days on your own to learn what a guide will show you in just 6 to 8 hours…

I had great experiences with Als Specialty Marine with a couple of different purchases, new 50hp Yammie back in 94 and new ProV in 99.

However in the last year when it came time to talk about a loose rivit and broken back rests on chairs in my 2002 Lund Mr. Pike they hardly had time to even talk to me… Disappointing. The lund warranty regarding the loose rivet was really disappointing, NONE…

Both in person and on the phone it really didn’t seem like they even cared. That’s what really bothered me.
