I will most likely buy another Solo 2.5 and buy a separate 7″ bit. Hard to change when this old auger has drilled thousands of holes with minimal issues. I will finish out the season before making my final decision.

Got to Bowstring on Thursday and the N.W. landing was fine & North landing was a mess. Walked out on North landing and the 18″ of ice turned very candled in the late afternoon. Temps dropped to 26 and tightened everything up for one last hoorah on Friday. Crappie bite was good and jumbo perch were non-existent. Rain Friday night and temps staying above freezing sent us back home early. Ice season is officially DONE!
We are going up to Bowstring tomorrow and will use extreme caution. Access this time of the year can always be an issue. I have been watching Bowstring Shores live webcam and their launch has taken a beating but the rest of the lake looks pretty good. It actually looked like a truck just went across the middle of the lake. I would never consider that, but a wheeler or on foot is the option for one last trip. I will report back on what we find.
P.S. Did not mean to start a firestorm over my inquiry on conditions. Be safe!
I was glad to see that posting them this way made it very easy for everyone to view.
Caught a bigger one tonight, but it came in too fast to hit the record button. This fishing with a camera is quite entertaining.
Don’t know the answer. I posted in hopes that all can enjoy. Maybe I should upload to my Youtube account and share the link?
People need to see these latest clips if they are wondering about quality of the LX-9.
Here are clips from yesterday as I did an exploration of some cribs in 22′ of water. The LX-9 is a great tool and has really increased my fish catching and learning. I would never leave home without it.
Very cool video! Thanks for sharing.
Did that muskie ever come back around for another look?
No he only passed thru once that day. I have had just about every specie that inhabit the lake on video. I had a clip that was 20 seconds long and it had a bluegill, crappie, largemouth bass, northern and a black sucker all in plain view. Like an aquarium!
I will be very curious on how the unit performs. I was intrigued when I saw an ad for the Striker 5dv ice @ 399.00. I have contacted Garmin to get more info and have not received a reply. Good thing I am Marcum heavy and no real need for another unit.
I personally hope the local news stations continue cranking up the “Dangerous Ice” talks. With fewer people out on our lakes and rivers, harvests will be lower and the thousands of pounds of litter left on the ice may actually be less than years past.
Call me self-centered…but some deteriorating ice that’s about 6-7″ thick would be just fine with me for the next couple months. My 1 man flip over and days without clusters of people will still be enjoyable
I agree!
Got home, did everything as before, except the primer. Started on first pull! Thanks a bunch everyone!
Good news! I have had mine for 5 years and never primed it once. Choke to full & pull. Never more than 3 pulls under any condition. I have also never used the decompression.

Would that not be considered advertising? If it is ok by the site I would do that. In the meantime, I will PM you the info.
An 11″ <strong class=”ido-tag-strong”>Crappie is a perfect eating size to me. Anything over 12″ is getting to big for the table.

I am with you! Especially on lakes where they are thick across the back.
I run mine like tucrs does. Love the chart for those fish that appear when your not looking at the screen!
