Northern Illinois Crappie – the males are in

For about a week now, I’ve been getting males up close to shore. I’ve been getting females out farther on the forming weedline. I haven’t been getting anything on plastic yet. cricket hook, minnow, and a crappie nibble for color, all under a slip bobber have been producing the best. Butter worms have been hit or miss.

I get my Explorer back today, so I can head to bigger water soon.

we had a few spots that warmed up enough the males moved in 2 weeks ago. but that cold front snapped it off. good to hear they are moving their way back in.
