Vexilar noise

    Just bought an older fl8 that almost screams when you turn it on. The noise eventually goes away. Is this something that I can fix myself? Anyone run into this before?

    Mine is an old one too. Does the same thing. Goes away after a couple minutes. Been doing that for ten years on me. Runs great otherwise so I’m not going to tinker with it.

    good chance the brushes need to be replaced. I had one that made that noise and one day it wouldn’t spin anymore. I brought it into vexilar and they rebuilt it for me.

    Yeah, it’s the brushes…mine has been doing it for quite few years!!! Sooner or later, I’ll have to have em changed out…..

    Mojo how much did that run you to get them replaced?

    It has been a long time maybe 15 years ago, but it was reasonable maybe $50. I dropped it off in Bloomington.
