I see more than a few post about how fast you can go with side scan so I thought I’d post these two screen captures. I think proper positioning is the biggest factor for those whose don’t read that great. I know Reddog’s read’s at even higher speeds but this is about top end for my mapping boat with out maxing out the motor.

Mine won’t work on plane, so I have never tried it. 4.5 mph with the chart speed on 8 seems to be best for me. On plane I have to use normal sonar that shoots thrugh the hull to see anything.
I can see the hard returns at 40mph
When I had my puck down below the hull it scanned pretty fast but I was nervous about hitting something…floating in the water and damaging the puck so I raised it up. Now about 4 is it.
