We just recieved another couple of inches of snow. We are probably the best in the state for snow cover now as the whole state is way below average. We are still locked up with fridged temps with below zero nights single didget days. Windy and cold outsite…warm in the fish house and lots of people out and catching. Crappies are the best bite going right now. Hey local lookers….log on…post…this forum is for all of ya to network and share….lets get rockin!

    Hey Brad,

Thanks for the update. Any particular lakes giving up some nice crappies? Whats the hot presentation? Has it been a morning/evening bite or has it shown some potential during the day as well.

We have fished many crappie lakes around the Nevis area. Island, Waboose, Many point. We frequent this area every year on opener, we have a tradition we have been doing for awhile and we switch it up a little from the walleyes and chase some crappies when the time is right?

Any suggestions for us in this area as we have only fished the area for about 6-7 years now.

Coming from Nevis you must also check Big Toad. Good ice bite and one of the best early soft water bites. Cotton, Toad, Little Detroit, Big and Little Floyd, and Sallie are best crappie bite lakes right now. Smallglow jigs with waxies and/or crappie minnows are producing the best and it is an evening bite that is done about dark 30. The best bite has been just insite the cabbage weed line. Big Walleyes have been reported on Big Sand in the Nevis area. Slot limit on the lake so people need to check the DNR guide book when jumping on unfamiliar lakes. Also
