Just wondering if any fellow IDO’ers have stayed at the Devils Lake Casino new Cabins? I have tried Woodland but they are booked up the dates that our group can make the trip. The price seems right, and we were going to fish out of portables anyways so this option makes sense for us, just wondering if any one has had good or bad experience with the cabins at the casino. Thanks for your input.

Have you tried Lakeview Resort? I have stayed there twice and they have good clean rooms and a good indoor cleaning station.

I have not stayed in the cabins but have stayed in the hotel. Just be aware, if your group likes to have a cocktail or two, alcohol is not permitted on the casino grounds. I nearly got kicked out of the hotel for unknowingly bringing a 12 pack into the building.

The Davis Motel is also a great place to stay when fishing Devils lake area.

If the Casino doesn’t work for you another good lodging option is Haybale Heights. Good access to the east side of Devils Lake and big perch!

Is there a certain time of year for trip to that area that is best for perch/walleye? Have a group from WI that is thinking of trying it out and time of year along with resort help is great thanks for the info.

The cool thing about Devils Lake is there is usually a good bite going on somewhere for something. But there are peak periods and if I was scheduling a trip for perch/walleye I’d look before New Years or sometime after March 1st typically for the best fishing. It’s going to be another good year on Devils Lake this winter.

Jim, Yes I have looked into that as well as Lakeside Campgroups….everything is booking up fast and we have a group of 6 people….I will keep looking around as I really want to get after the jumbos again. Last year we found some incredible fishing….
