Way to go Jen…… You might have to let your better half hook into one of those nice ones one of these days.
Quote:
I am the better half
I better pack some kleenex next time I see him…. which might be tomorrow night.
I like the ones with Aloe in them You better bring some with for Andy tonight too, I have a feeling he is going to need them.
Hey shouldn’t you be out trying to catch some bait
shore fishing, missed two but got this one. 8 foot cat pole, 2/0 or 3/0 offset worm hook(not only for bass), 3oz on a sinker slide using day aged suckers caught fresh the day before. id say in the 5-10lb range. just wish the action didnt shut off 45 minutes after ig ot there for the rest of the day.
Finally managed to get on the Red River south of Fargo. the water is just falling below flood stage now. managed a couple of fish. the biggest was 13.5 lbs on cut suckers. Should be on the Red by grand forks by this weekend.
Just a little guy from an hour ago
Yup, they bite during the day too
Jack strikes again.
Don’t care where he’s at, this kid always nails the biggest cat of our trips. 6lbs, released
Heres one of the average size were catching, I just happened to have the camera with us this day and shot this pic. The same two young guys in the pictures were coming in to fish with bobbers and bluegills just as we were leaving tonight. We had to leave just when the bite was starting to get good, maybe we’ll go tomorrow night.
The first picture is of Ryan with a channel we just took off of a ditty pole, the second is of my friend George and Paul. I put in another picture of the average fish we have been catching the last couple weeks or so, the ones in the picture laying on the floor are smaller ones of the ones we have been catching.
The 2009 St Croix channel cat bite has really taken off. I’ve caught 4 fish over 30 inches so far this spring and the season has just started. A 30″ channel cat is considered a trophy cat and the St Croix has been producing some beauties:
7 May 09 – 30″ X 18″
14 May 09 – 33″ X 18″
19 May 09 – 30″ X 16″
9 June 09 – 30″ X 19.5″
Here is double from last night and one more that Jennie got
Jennie’s fish were 28″x17″ for the double and 27″x15″ for the single.
Andy’s half was 24″, we didn’t get a girth on that one.
Jennie has had the big fish in two doubles this year. We had a flathead double early in the year that she beat me on.
Thanks you Andy and Sara for taking us out Next time maybe I could catch a fish too Also congrats to Sara on her first flathead
Here’s my best cat so far this year. Didn’t measure him, but he went 16 3/4 lbs. Caught Friday out at Prewitt Res in northeast Colorado.
