February 19, 2010 at 7:40 pm #844123The heater/cooker shown has a built in regulator.
No external regulator is needed.I use mine in my two-man with the upper vents open and havent had one headache.
You may have residue in the hose/causing sooting, mine burns pretty clean.

February 15, 2010 at 12:49 am #842470I have fished there.
I cant recommend anyone specifically because the fishing trip was scheculed by some-one else.
But I would recommend paying extra for a quality outfit/the one I was on the guides did not understand english but they drank all the beer faster then we could. It is a beautiful country w/ excellent fishing.
Good luck,

If you look at the Wi-dnr website it says you do not need anything.
Do I need a name and address on my ice fishing shanty or shelter, even if it is portable?
It depends. The name and address (in English) of the person owning or using any fishing shelter must be legibly painted or permanently affixed on the outside of the shelter in block lettering at least one inch square in contrasting colors, when the shelter is left on the ice and is not occupied or otherwise in use. However, beginning April 1, 2002, fishing shelters that are occupied or otherwise in use and removed from the ice daily are exempt from this requirement. If you remove the shelter from the ice when you come off the ice, a name and address is not required.(copied from the wi-dnr web-site).

December 27, 2009 at 2:23 am #826824Can you see gas in the fuel line going from the tank to the carburator?
If not- check the screen in the tank for debri.
I would replace the line from tank to engine it may have an air leak.
Also replace spark plug.Check also the primer bulb for cracks.
Check these things first and let us know.

December 27, 2009 at 12:44 am #826799For the anchors-you will drill a hole through the floor of sled (near corner but on flat surface).
Id do cross corner-Drill bit size justly slightly larger than anchor. The other method would be to scew the anchor in the ice and clip or bungee them to the fish house.

Maybe the guy is a little thick and didn’t realize that his dog was causing a problem for others. The fact that he took the dog inside after you scolded him was a start. Now I would go up and talk to the guy about your concern before running to the cops or animal control.
I think it would be much more effective to handle it like an adult (even if he is lacking in the adult part) rather than to run and tattle to the law before even trying.
The law has a way of messing things up.My fishing buddy takes his dog everytime we go. He doesn’t urine on anyones things and minds our buisness.
The problem is not dogs on the ice. Its people that can’t control their dogs on the ice.
Wrong answer.
When a kid gets mauled can we call the police then- or just talk about it?
Leave the dog at home.
December 25, 2009 at 10:59 pm #826602If the Vexilar Fl-8 is in your price range-buy it.
It is a quality and reliable flasher. If you have a-lot more money to spend then go bigger.
A $500.00 flasher wont attract fish-it comes down to location and presentation.
December 24, 2009 at 1:08 pm #826341lookin4bigones,
I have loose dogs come up to me on probably every other outing on the Croix for ice fishing.
After reading your post and being injured by dogs this summer-I think maybe we should call the sherrif on the spot if this continues to happen.A call to the police may soud severe- but we are out trying to enjoy ourselves and shouldnt have to deal with that.
My 2 cents,
ScottDecember 17, 2009 at 12:34 am #823996Do you have a Fleet-Farm near you?
I would carry it in the next time you go and set it in the bin with the rest of the used batteries.
The bin is usually by the service counter as you walk in.
Or an auto service center(ie Tires Plus etc).Scott
