lakemaster makes a different chip for lowrance units… I have the Minnesota lakemaster chip in my h2oc and it works great!

Is there an actual written rule or law though? I haven’t been able to find anything on it

I always try to avoid that. I dont know how much truth there is to it, but i heard that Vexilar is going to be changing their design soon to fix the problem and up the power on their units.

I def. have not ruled that out (especially after seeing those crappie pictures he posted!). The guys going with are on more of a budget than I am thanks to my tax return so I may have to make a short list of other options after all.

Couldnt agree more. Bought a clam summit hub style… Returned it bought a frabill trakker delux… Returned it. Bought the otter ice cabin… Love it! Yeah it costs a little more up front than the other brands but considering the better matterials and function of it, it will far outlast the others too. In my opinion it’s cheaper to spend more on the better product, because in the end it will last. Clam makes a good product and the customer service is great, but after using a lot of different styles and brands I have to agree that otter has it dialed in.

The girlfriend and I went out last fall through cha chi in cancun, couldn’t have been happier!! They were awesome all the way through from start to finish. We booked a group trip for dirt cheap and ended up being the only two so we got everything to ourselves! We caught a bunch of fish over a reef a ways out and some top water too. Our mate fished a little with us and hooked up on something huge, he fought it for a long time and never put a dent in this things power. He would put both feet up on the rail of the boat and use all of his weight to lean into it and it was still taking line and running. He cut the line off when it got close to the prop and we were all a little pissed, noone more than him. Never saw what it was, but a great experience with cha chi. Would recomend to anyone. P.s. We stayed at the riu palace and took the bus to cha chi marina for less than 2 bucks a person

I have had a buddy heater(the smaller one) fail due to not using a filter. So I believe the filter is needed. I also have a big biddy heater and my gripe with it is when using the 2 one pound tanks, the heater will go out and the non primary tank of the 2 is still about a third full! The 20 pound tank is the way to go.

Haha, I hear ya… I tend to go whether she likes it or not. Like i said though the goal is to maybe get her to understand my obsession with fishing a little better. Its not that she cares so much what im doing, but that i only have 2 days off a week and the last 5 weeks in a row i have spent all my time fishing and none with her

I have the clam summit and depending on what you want to do with it, it works well. I dislike the mobility of it as it takes quite a bit longer to move from spot to spot with it. In the wind i have found it best to anchor the corners down before pulling it up so you dont have to fight the wind. I think it makes me lazy when i fish, I put off moving because it takes a while to do. Just my thoughts on it, im looking for a 2-3 man flip down instead but depending on how you plan to fish they can be great.

Thanks for the welcome! dont know that i will buy one unless there are rave reviews for the thing, but if it gets the lines in the water faster i would be willing to give it a try!
