    Hey guys,

Any tips on best place launch solo pool 2? I could go anywhere from Lilydale to Hidden Falls. Any docks out at a launch, sandy shore to park boat while parking?

    Thanks guys

Walleye are not on structure/reefs right now. Not rock bars such as 3 mile, or mud flats either (just dinks on mud flats). I am headed back up Next week and will report back with updates. Wish I could show you guys screen shot, but I drove from 2 mile to flamingo to mud flats to Highway Bar never saw a school of Walleye, decent size anyway, over 2-3 and 3 was maybe once and again smaller. Too windy for me to try basin related patterns but I did see larger schools of 4-6 large marks on basin areas in very short amount of time.

Water level – no problems launching. However, that gunk on top of water, pollen maybe? Looks like pollen I see on like Rainy Lake but not sure. Anyway there was enough of it isolated in a shallow spot I was fishing to point where I got got engine warning beeps. It was like sludge going inside the water intake so watch for those areas.

Smallies are indeed active though. Got a 21″ in 27′, and multiple nice ones shallower around 10-13′

FSHNRIG – Had same issue when my new Pro V arrived in April. Ulterra 112 70″ with link did not arrive and no news as of today. I was fortunate enough to find a 112 60″ at fish electronics and bought it immediately. NO Link on this one. If you still in a bind shoot me a PM – if/when my first one arrives I will be looking to sell the 112/60. Rest of boat is a dream. Worked with Matt at Nelson and he was great.

Nice Mark love the photos. Fingers crossed Lund comes through and I can close April sometime. Hope you’re happy with the purchase.

Thanks guys. Every other decision on this boat build was simple for me except this. Still torn.

Water was 55 Friday the 23rd. Nittis launch is fine use the north ramp not the south. They were biting OK Friday all day. Kids (had 4 with me between 12-15) were missing a lot of bites early, setting hook too quickly with bigger minnows we had. Switched all rigs to bigger hook and that helped. My daughter got her PB 27″ trolling shallow at 800 pm over rocks which was a blast. I was not marking large schools – lot of 2/3 fish pods with occasional maybe 4-7 fish pods.
There was a blue/black/red alumacraft, I think tiller, who looked like they were having a lot of success. Seemed to be heavy SI use and picking them off with rippin rap type presentation. I would be curious to see their numbers that Friday if a member here post up.

On Tuesday from 830-1200 am we got goose egged. There was a hail and T-storm at 400 AM Tuesday though. Tuesday from 230-530 we got 15 biggest 26″ but most were cookie cutter size which if you fish Mille Lacs you know what I mean. Tuesday night 7:30-9:30 got another 15 all on slip bobbers in 22′ on rock sand break. So phenomenal Tuesday. The previous day Monday was slower. We had a decent morning with I think 8. Then brutal Monday afternoon on the mud flats with 1. Then 4-5 slip bobber at night near 2 mile.

On the hot Tuesday bite they were passing on lindy rig but smashing slip bobber. I think if we stayed lindy we catch a third of those fish. My advice if up there this week and stays hot – spend a little more time locating that larger school as opposed to settling on the 3-5 fish schools. The larger schools are there if patient and they are clearly more active as far as feeding. Also on the slip bobber night bite move quickly if it’s not going well. If from 800-830 your spot stinks, reposition, and anything less than 20′ even at night was too shallow for the Walleye bite for us.

Nick did you get this 26″ on Fall? I saw you mentioned you stayed on fall. If yes that is like a 30″ on most lakes as far as equivalency. Fall is not great and I don’t know if this has changed -but they stopped stocking it at one point.

Thanks cbeeksma I will keep a Marabou handy moving forward.

Are you concerned with, seemingly imo, the rise of the Pike in the Bay?

I believe you’re asking if RE fraud, or bad business choices and objectively seems like the latter. Yes should have hired a lawyer. Up front though, mainly. Anytime you are renting/leasing and you intend to put personal funds into improvement of the property you need to demand a long lease term, or an iron clad ‘option to renew’. And as far as the eviction process, crist, you need language in the lease that is not straight Landlord heavy. Something that protect you from immediate eviction if you’re late on one payment. Something in the middle; maybe can be evicted if late on 3 payments within 6 month period. Or best case upfront should have negotiated contract for deed. You run the place for 3-5 years and if you pay rent on time owners have to sell for a pre determined price, etc. End of day as Otter said ‘you f—– up, you trusted us.’

I am not sure what the aluminum plate is myself. Regardless, just go with a ram mount as you say and mount in same spot as your current H7 (so long as the H9 fits there of course) so you can use same conduit for PC/TD.

Otherwise post a photo or two of your console/dash area and people here will certainly chime in with ideas.

Slow for us Sunday morning as well. 1 walleye from 10:00 – 2:00. Water was flowing more than we anticipated so was tough boat control but tried our best. Great to be out there for first time. Nice fish Daniel and Mike.

I have not driven Glass. I will try to network with someone owning Glass and do a test. Thank you.

Thank you everyone for the comments thus far – great to get your perspective.

Morning – we fished the Canadian side 29th thur the 2nd. I had a difficult time narrowing in on a consistent pattern for walleye this week. It was the slowest spring in 7 years for us (for walleye, pike were going crazy). Walleye were scattered in the shorelines and shallows. We were able to eat walleye each day for lunch so were not talking drastic conditions, but I personally landed maybe 7-9 over 23″ entire trip. Biggest 26.” That is pretty brutal for Canadian Rainy 4 days all day. Successful presentation 1/8th oz jigs with plastic or minnows, 3/16th oz jig in 15-23′ with minnows, DT 4 casting to shore. Ultimately we decided to move faster on shorelines. Heavy weight, single spinner tipped with minnow and just cover ground. We would pick off a Walleye every now and then, and were getting hammered by S.M. and Pike so at least was fun. Temps high 50’s low 60’s in bays.

Joe what is superior about it? Is faster processor? Clearer screen?

Also excellent point about disconnect. I live on local lake w lift and always remove control head after use!

Irott – You can get permanent access through Canada’s rehabilitation program/permit. It is a pain in the ass. The paperwork is taxing enough where hiring a lawyer is a good idea ( I know a guy who was granted rehab status and his bro is a lawyer and that helped). As long as last offense was 10 years ago you would be a candidate for acceptance, even if multiple alcohol violations. Once/if you are granted approval they give you a a piece of paper. You present it to them at the border and you’re in. But you will never get it in time for this fall – don’t doubt me. 12 to 24 months. Also just FYI this guy I referenced before, he went through the border two times a year for 13 years before being flagged. Even then he was allowed a 5 day pass (for 180.00), but once flagged you will be checked every time so at that time is when you need to apply for rehab permit if you ever want to go back.

Guys I am way late to this post obviously. I googled ONIX Touch Screen Problems and this was a link.

Anyway H-Bird has killed the ONIX production from what I can see and for good reason. God I wish I had my 1198 back. Besides the boot up issues (unbelievably slow) the touch screen is terrible. It’s intermittent in its functionality. On a good day maybe it starts out working for first 2-3 hours of a trip. Most days it’s 50/50 as to whether or not it even works at all. So then you are stuck operating from the control panel which is not user friendly at all.

I bought it used which is a little less painful from cost standpoint, but my advice to anyone looking into ONIX is PASS. It is handicapped.

Erik – Three day trip last week. Fishing near Rebecca Island, Woodchuck, etc. By the second day we had totally shifted our presentation to deeper water structure. There is a very aggressive Walleye bite currently on Rainy IMO. The only bad 1/2 day we had was in conjunction with 0 mph wind Friday morning. Witnessed a 23″ Walleye follow up a 23″ Walleye from 20 fow feasting on the hooked Walleye’s spit out like a Small Mouth would do. I don’t recall last time I have seen that and seems to indicate their appetite currently. Two 28’s, 1 27 between two boats. Probably 18-20 24’s. 1 25. No 26s. All the eaters you could ask for. Plenty of 18-21 inch class. This was best spring we have had in a long time up there and it was clearly a result of W being deeper because it allowed us to sit on top of medium to large schools. Sometimes when they’re shallow they are scattered so a guy just has to grind so hard for the numbers to add up. We used minnows basically. Good luck up there we will be back in July for a tilt.
