Here’s what you do….get yourself a 8′ piece of pvc pipe and an elbow. Cut a hole in the wall of the shack and run yer pipe through it. Never have to leave the shack and the pee is set free.

A few years ago we were fishing pool 5 of Mississippi and when we got back to hotel we needed to clean some fish, but some other guys were using the cleaning room so we waited. They guarded the door so we couldn’t see in. My brother happened to see their 5 gallon pail of fish and it was loaded with tiny walleyes…9-10 inchers.
Well, I called local dnr agent to report them and left him a VM. It was our day to go home so we loaded up and left.
2 days later the dnr agent called me up to thank me…over and over…for calling the crime in. He said, “we never get poachers because they’re too hard to catch – there’s just not enough agents.” He said he went to hotel that day but the perps were gone. He came back the next day and they were there…3 jagoffs from Indiana in a red truck. He busted them for possession of over 50 undersized walleyes.
I hesitated when I made the call to dnr and I was the only one that did. Turned out it was one of the smartest things I ever did.

Last weekend on the outside edge of that very same rock pile my brother caught about an 8# cat that had 3 jigs, a jointed crank bait, a bottom bouncer, and about 10 feet of line attached to it. Plus my brothers jig in it’s mouth.
    No rods or reals, though.

That used to happen with my Merc 2/stroke 100. Always worried I had a fuel leak but it never caused an issue.
Sometimes it would go away for a trip only to return next trip.
Ran the motor for 25 years w/o any major issues and compression in every cylinder was about 145 after 25 years.

Hmmm…we had mixed results for muskie and did catch walleyes. Eyes would bite good for an hour then they’d shut right down.
    Shoulda tried some plastics.

Same for us with the bloom. We fished through it and found areas where it had dissolved a bit. Even there visibility was inches. Still caught fish.

Watched a game last night…Lousiville vs. ole Miss. Running back bolted through the 2 hole and the was plastered by strong safety…clean, jarring tackle that was a beautiful football move. Play went on but before the next snap game was stopped by replay official in the booth who promptly ejected the tackler.
I can’t watch college football anymore because of the rules and the length of the games…minimum of 4 hours. The great sport of college football has died.
Best team ever??? Hands down 1995 Nebraska – nobody got w/in 24 points of them and they smashed Spurrier’s “fun and gun” team by about 50 points in the national championship game. I remember thinking the final score could have been even worse had the dogs not been called off. They must have had a good defense.

    Wow, good info MCW! Thanks!
Yes, Tamarack…other guys who had fished LOTW before were running to other parts of the lake. I was willing to do that but didn’t know where to run. Todd ( owner) told me to head north so I went north about 7 or 8 miles and found some cleaner water…also found one of those algea ” slicks” that surprised me so much I stopped the boat cause I thought something was wrong!
Wind kept me from going north again so I concentrated on nearby areas…w/in a couple miles of Tamarack and Basil Channel. That’s where I caught all my fish.
I generally fish Wisconsin waters…stained a little with iron. I tell ya, you won’t have much luck figure 8ing those fish, but it was just the opposite at LOTW. Half the fish we caught were on figure 8s. They would follow to boat and would not go away. I don’t see that in north-central WI.

East wins entire trip. Rain first 2 days, bluebird and no wind next 2 days, then rain last 2 days

Tamarack Wilderness Island Resort. Foe amenities and service it was the best remote camp I’ve ever stayed at. Nice cabins, clean, great docks and gas pump, tons of power and power at slips, Wi-Fi, and great staff.
It would be a great place to go for walleyes in late May/June. Owner said they are thick until the first mayfly hatch. And kids can catch eyes right off the dock.

Biden is keeping border closed until August 21st and possibly beyond. He probably is in fear of vaccinated US and Canadian citizens spreading the vaccine to invaccinated people. Until now I had thought restrictions were for medical reasons. I’ve changed my mind.
Funny thing….thought Biden and Trudeau were political friends? It’s apparent they do not cimmuncate.

How do you even know that, doctor?
Oh…sorry, I’m sure you heard that from a friend who heard it from another friend who read it online from website like VaccinesDontWork.org, so your informstion must be 100% accurate.

Respectfully, I don’t think you know what your talking about. “Zero infratructure?”
Well, I lost my covid vaccine card so I went back to vaccination site and they looked me up in their data base and gave me a new card. I think that’s called “infrastructure.” While doing that I also contacted state of Illinois to see if I could get covid vaccination record. They emailed me a vaccination certification record that included every vaccination I’ve ever had going back to 1960, and ALL of those vaccinations except Covid vaccination were given in Wisconsin and NOT Illinois. That proves there is a usable national vaccination database, and the probable challenge is to access it quickly. I believe that would be considered “infrastructure.”

I just received my new Competitor 175 with bunk trailer. I love it. No problems at ramps. Stick with it.
My old boat (Phantom 170) had bunk trailer, too, and I never had issues with ramps due to low water.

I am president of my own C Corp. Be honest and be careful. Get a good accountant. You can probably claim as expenses fishing equipment you purchase, as a percentage of how much you use them for guiding. Same goes with truck…deducting percentage used for business. If you own your own boat you may have to lease it or sell it to your business in order to claim it as an expense. You can probability deduct home office expenses (up to 25% of home urilities, paper, computer, internet, blah blah blah). Do you currently pay for your own medical expenses?…health insurance? If so, your company may elect to pay them for you as a benefit…especially since you are such a valued employee and they cannot afford to lose you.
Pay yourself a modest salary and the rest in distibutions so to minimize social security and unemoloyment insurance tax total cost. As a shareholder, distibutions paid to you do not incur these taxes…but the salary you pay yourself…as it goes through payroll and, therefore, is subjuct to the taxes, had better be reasonable – you can’t have all of your income be paid through distributions or they’ll audit you for sure. Or, pay yourself through 1099 and pay all those avoidable taxes (7 1/2 % of income).
Lots of other things to consider, but I think your goal should be to turn a profit and grow your business rather than start a business in order to pay less taxes by writing off equipment you use for your hobby. IMO you start a guide business and take losses because of lack of revenue…that throws off a big red flag at IRS. They’re understaffed but they’re not idiots.

Thanks for the input(everyone). My main issue is that I have a son…who I’ve been taking to Minnitaki for years and years, where we fish points and shelves with crank baits…all day long. Very easy to get a steady bite of eyes, smallies, and pike. My son doesn’t like to jig and he’s giving me crap because I can’t find a lake with that kind of a bite south of the border. I think he knows that there ain’t a lake like that here…he’s just peeved about the closed border and he needs someone to complain to.

I was coming back from Home Depot with a couple of sheets of 3/4″ treated plywood to replace the flooring on my boat, and a guy pulled me over brandishing a pistol!
I thought I was being car jacked so I threw my keys at him to avoid getting shot. He swatted the keys away and proceeded to transfer my plyood to his truck.
    I was Lumberjacked!
