The La Crosse public library had a copy of fishing hotspots for pool 8. This was a few years ago so I’m not sure if they still have it.

I took your advice and called around town for prices, turns out the range that I came up with was $2,200 – $2800 to buy the same year & hp motor that I have. The insurance company had the value right around $1,000. Wow, what a difference. I called up the claims adjuster and told her what I found, faxed a written quote and wouldn’t you know, they are sending a check to cover the full repairs! They changed their stance on the damage, instead of being a total loss, it’s now repairable.

This is a good lesson for anyone dealing with insurance companies. My claim started out being rejected, then partially covered to finally being fully covered. It was initially rejected because they claimed damage was “mechanical”. I decided to do a little homework and requested the appraisers report on my motor. His comments/remarks were at the bottom of the page and clearly said “damage was caused from multiple impacts”. After getting this info I had to call the claims adjuster and say, hey this guy says that it’s from impact. She then told me “oh, well I guess we would cover it then”!!! Then they give me this bs with the valuation of the motor. In the end, the motor gets fixed and I can fish again.

So long story short, just because you have a claim that gets rejected, don’t give up on it if you believe they should cover. Ask plenty of questions & request copies of reports that were filed and don’t take their bs.

This such a great example of why you stick with an honest insurance company when you can find one and don’t hop around just looking for the lowest rate.

Thanks again for all the help.

Great guys, looks like we are doing okay after all! Me and my fishing buddies definitely thought the fish that we have caught have been worth the wait. We’ll be back out tomorrow night, so hopefully our luck keeps up.

    Thanks guys.

Ended up having to defer to a mechanic…diagnosis: pinion gear split in two….estimated repair cost = $1650!!!

I’ll either have to try and tackle this during the winter myself or….. anybody looking for a side project for the winter?

    Thanks for all the help.

So the prop does not turn if in gear and I drained the lower unit and there was a little bit of metal shavings, but really not all that much. Are we still thinking lower unit rebuild? I would think there would be more metal if the entire lower unit ground up into pieces.

I wasn’t able to run through everything mentioned above yet, but I did put it in gear and the prop does not spin in either forward or reverse. I sure hope that means it’s not the lower unit. I’ll try the other suggestions this weekend. Thanks for all the input guys!

So I’m guessing if I put in gear and prop spins freely that is bad news, correct? I’ll try when I get home, all I know is that if it’s the lower unit, my fishing time will be greatly reduced for the rest of the year.

Ughh….I hope that’s not the case. What the cost on a lower unit rebuild?

I quick took the prop off and didn’t notice anything like that. The nut behind the pin was a little loose, but that’s not what you are talking about, correct? I then took off the rubber bushing and looked at the metal shaft (not sure what real part names are) that spins the propeller & everything seemed okay.

If you would want a stained glass piece of that I could recommend someone. She is able to take a picture and replicate it with the stained glass, looks very nice. It’s probably a little more pricey than an ordinary painting, but much nicer. Let me know if you want her info.

Does either DirectTV or DishNetwork offer local HD channels yet in the La Crosse area?

So is it typical for closing costs to be higher with a mortgage broker than with a credit union?

Last night was a great night for fishing! I only fished for about an hour and ended up with 8 LM. Nothing huge, but 5 were legal. The bass were very active, caught them all on a spinner bait in & around wood on a strech no longer than 75 yards. Hope the fishing is this good all year!

Be wary of the the “honor system” method, I won a fantasy football league with 11 other fellow IDAers and have received 1 of the 11 lures that I was supposed to get.

She does great custom work. If you have a drawing or even a rough idea of what you are looking for she can come up with something that you are going to like.

Her latest work that I saw is a tribute to Brett Favre. It is a piece that shows him from about lower chest up, he’s in the midst of taking his helmet off & looking towards the ground. It’s a real sharp piece. I’ll make sure to post it when she’s done with it.

You guys can just send me your crank that you catch the most fish with!

I agree, the fox league stinks – Yahoo is way more user friendly and never has problems.

It’s a 70 HP Evinrude. I don’t have the year of the motor yet, but the boat is an 89′ and I would guess the motor is about the same.

It looks like there is a problem with the Foxsports website. They have a message posted that they are trying to fix it as soon as possible. Whenever they get the problem figured out we should be able to do trades and pick up free agents.

    Quote:

What I don’t like about Bonds (besides the steroid allegations) is that he has openly said that at most at bats, he sees pitches that he could easily get a single or double off of, but lays off because he only wants to hit the long ball.

Do you really think that Barry Bonds was brought in to hit a bunch of singles? I don’t buy the part about singles “or doubles”. There is not much difference between a pitch that you can hit a double off of and one you can hit a home run off of. It’s just a matter of whether the batter gets the right part of the bat on the ball.

What part of trying to do his job leads to him to not being a “team player”?

I think you have to give the guy some credit. It takes tremendous skill to accomplish what he has in his career. Like it or not, steroids or no steroids, Barry Bonds is one of the greatest baseball players of all time.

Yahoo has Pro Football Pick’em. It’s pretty easy to use and it looks like it is exactly the system you are looking for.

I chewed for around 6 – 7 years and finally quit a few years ago. The approach that I took is a very good one for somebody that has trouble quitting cold turkey.

First of all you have to have your mind made up that you are really ready to quit and that your really want to do it. If you are not ready to quit it’s not going to work. You have to put yourself on a schedule and have a goal date for when you want to finally quit chewing (maybe 1 or 2 months from today, mark it on the calendar).

What I did was bought some of the fake chew (Smokey Mountain or the Mint snuff) and would take out 1/2 the can and replace it with the regular chew so I would have a 1/2 & 1/2 blend. I would chew this blend for a week or 2. After the time period was up I would go down to 1/4 regular chew – 3/4 fake chew blend. I would chew this blend for a week or two. After that I went to straight fake stuff and then eventually quit it all together.

This system works great because you can set the schedule however you want. If you want to chew the 1/2 & 1/2 blend for a month, that’s fine; just as long as you are slowing chewing less and less as you go on. Over time you are still getting the nicotine but less of it. Eventually you will not crave the nicotine anymore and will be able to finally quit!

Hope this works for a few of you out there trying to quit.

    Good luck
