The Cabelas lifetime warranty is not actually a lifetime warranty. Guide Wear has a warranty of 1 year unless you purchase the exteded warranty which will give you another 2 years. You also need to have your original receipt.

I had an issue with a product that was like new and outside of that 1 year period. I discussed this with the manager and they took care of me but if your gear is 15 years old I don’t think you will have the same results.

Fish on the train tracks on the upstream side of the dam that goes through downtown. Excellent panfishing and simple, the train doesn’t run those tracks anymore. Hook/small jig and bobber = keep it simple.

Sounds like Bens has some golden shiners but by the weekend it’s unknown. I haven’t heard of anyone in the area having spot tails yet.

I had that same issue once, I noticed the water coming out of the p hole was warmer than normal, had a new water pump installed and they told me it was good to go. Took it out to the river, got it off the trailer and the alarm goes off. Long story short, I had damage to my piping where the copper enters the motor. When my mechanic called Merc, they were aware of the problem as water gets trapped on top of a runner gasket and if your running the motor in the winter it doesn’t allow the water to drain back down to your prop, thus when that water freezes shits gonna break. Do you use your motor during freezing weather?

Take the skin off and grill the fillets in a soaked cedar plank. Season to your liking and baste with light Italian dressing or Wee Willys White BBQ. Awesome and easy, taste great, no smell and better for you.

Williston is very expensive, you will find a place to stay but be prepared to pay up. RV with hook ups will run you $1000 to $1500 per month. A town house rental is running $2500 to $3500. The experience has been good for me but don’t go out to Western ND blind, you will probably not be prepared.

As far as things to do, there is fish to catch and birds to shoot. But the best thing to do in Williston is make money! Save the hunting and fishing for when you come home.

Cabelas has Depth Master Trolling Combos on sale for $50. Great set up if you want to get started. Can get rods from 9′ to inside 5′ rods. That price includes rod and reel with line counter. Not top of the line reels but they will get the job done just fine for you and at that price you will still get your money out of them when you want to upgrade to Tekotas!

I owned one, it was a pretty good motor. I went through a water pump every 2.5 years like clock work. The motor ran excellent and the only mechanical issue I had was a safety switch and prop seals, and I ran the hell out of that motor.

Here is what you want to take into consideration, that motor was a bit#%h to start when the weather cold cold in November, once you got it running you were set for the day. Very sensitive on starts in general, there was a sweet spot on the throttle and choke and if you don’t find it, well you better have a full battery.

Another issue is parts were tough, when I had to do repairs it seemed like simple things like water pumps and seals were back ordered and took a long time to get. Like I said earlier that motor did a great job, but if you can swing it spend a little more for EFI.

Lowrance has been great to me, I would bet they are going to upgrade you to an HDS unit that has been remanufactured, so going from a 37 to a HDS for 250 isn’t a bad thing. When I was in your same shoes I had trouble with my 37, they upgraded me to a HDS 8 for $500, so I asked how much to upgrade to a HDS 10? It was another $100 and that’s a no brainer. So you got a bunch of lemons with this situation, work with the service rep and explain the situation and I bet you will get into a newer unit at an unbelievable price, then you can look back and smile about “updating your software!”

Does anyone have the performance reviews on this boat? It peaks my interest but the reviews have been very quiet, would like to do some research.

Sizing a furnace properly will ensure your maximum efficiency, for the footage you have 100 seems steep. A lot of people think bigger is better cause you have the ability to do more but that theory doesn’t hold true for your residential furnace.

Call Ryan Mechanical in Red Wing and ask for Jake, he will take care of you.

Since my partner and I are meeting at the Bluffs in the morning, the bigger question is “Will we make it out of the parking lot and head to Everts or just head straight into the bluffs!

True dat! Can someone tell Shooter that it might be a good idea to open early that day! Would RRR be willing to make sure that the Bluffs are prepared for some early arrivals!

Why pull your graphs? If you have power at the dock then just leave them run overnight, I would think that would be better than fumbling around with frozen electrical connections full of frost in the morning?

Cooler with aerator work just fine, just bring a jug to exchange water from the cooler to the river. The temps are so cold that fish mortality is minimal, last year I only exchanged water one time during the day in my cooler and used 2 battery aerators and my fish were jumping out of the cooler at weigh in!

I liked the idea of just keeping these events “Fun!” Whenever you up the stakes people have a tendency to take the “Fun” out of the day and do dumb things.

I will fish them both either way, but I like the low key atmoshere.

And if I remember correctly, I think after I read the directions I also had to put a switch in to be able to shut off power to the external antenna. Been a while but if I remember correctly those external units do draw power if the unit is shut off.

Also make sure the external GPS is at least the proper distance away from the head of the unit. I had this same problem with a 37 once, I had to mount the external antenna on the opposite side of the boat as my gps/sonar unit and problem was solved, I think the manufacturer says at least 3 ft away, but it’s been a while since I had that unit.

I had my ice auger done by a guy just south of Zumbrota, he just converted his shed into a small engine shop. He did a bang up job on my auger, he actually made it start and run like it’s supposed to and his price was fair. I don’t know if he does snowmobiles but I see he had a lawn tractor ripped apart, and it would be worth a call. PM me if your interested in someone this far south and I can shoot you his cell.

There is a lot to be said for maintenance on your mechanical equipment, plain and simple a little maintenance can go a loooong way. That being said it also opens the door for some BS Service contract and a sales/tech selling on commissions.

Bottom line is when you make the service call and have no heat, your at their mercy. The guy came at 10:00 pm and potentially saved your home from other damages. Your options are very limited and in a bind they did the service you asked of them.

Steep, you darn right! You payed a premium in a time of need, but the best thing you can do is know your mechanical contractor. Qualify them on the customer service that they have given your friends and neighbors, then hire that same person every time you need service. The bill sucks but at least you can sleep tonight in a warm bed.

    BK you Old SOB!!!!!!!

LOL! And yes I had a crappie tie me up in that snag, I lost and old time fav. I sat on my bucket and ate my lunch, as was was sitting there I knew I wasn’t even going to be able to sleep at night if old lucky wasn’t back on the end of my favorite meat stick. So I manned up and did what I had to do, I could feel the log but couldn’t feel the lure. Then I lost feeling in my hand and I thought “what am I going to do if I bury this hook in my hand, then I will be SOL and have my arm stuck in this hole! So I grabbed the log and pulled as hard as I could till I broke it! Got my lure back and as long as it’s my story, I iced that big crappie 10 minutes later!!!!!!!

Just bought a pair of 800 Danners and so far am very happy. Took a little work to break in the left shoe. Gander Mountain had a nice pair of Irish Setter with 800g and gortex that has my eye also, little lighter and about 1″ shorter than the Danner so you don’t have to always wear a taller sock. I have found if I go over 800 my feet get too hot when walking for birds.
