Whatever your rifle shoots the best in more important than the bullet weight. My father passed his ‘good rifle” a Browning he loved. I wanted to carry it on a moose hunt and thought I should use 180g bullet for moose. That was too heavy for the twist that rifle was built with. Using the logic that copper bullets retain all their weight thus energy I ended up with a Barnes 150g bullet shooting best. I dropped a moose in its tracks at 200 yards, and retired dads “good rifle”.
Confidence in your rifle and load is most important.

Realizing this a 10 year old post, it is still very relevant. Has anyone added a twist by using a frozen ice pack in the bottom? Are all ice paks created equal or do some keep frozen longer than others?

Casting swim baits over the weeds can be VERY effective. Another method is a black 1/4 oz marabou jig with a Mr Twister Meeney tail trailer, just swim it slow and steady.

Being in the business I can assure you the WORST thing you can do is book through a 3rd party i.e. Hotels.com, expedia or any other than directly with the brand. Depending on the individual property they may allow some flexibility but when you commit to the 3rd party all bets are off.

I would be more interested in condition than where a boat was run. Salt water is corrosive but not near as bad as calcium chloride they put on roads in the winter. Take a look at the car or truck next to you, probably rusted out after only a couple of years. If a boat is pulled in the winter in areas where they use gravel on the roads is guaranteed to have chips and rust all over the trailer.
Salt water does not scare me, most of what you hear is old wives tales from years ago.

On my MX 1825 I added a track behind the rail for electric downriggers. On mycurrent boat Ranger 621FS I took the back rail off and replaced with 36″ Cannon tracks.
Tracks are tracks are tracks, all cosmetic. All brands are the same and Cannons are the least expensive.

Sorry, clarify please. Are you asking side rod storage doors????

Yes, it looks like the side rod storage and tackle storage are a plastic slide in unit unlike older models the have metal frame around doors.

VERY disappointing. I had a MX 1825 for several years and really liked the boat but wanted something bigger so bought a Ranger 621, too big for my style. I’ve run that this summer and miss my Skeeter. I have been planning on getting a MX 2040 w/300.
So much for that plan, guess I’ll have to go to the 620 Ranger instead, too bad.

Personally I have run Yammie on my last 3 boats and they start and run EVERY time you turn the key. Never had to go back for warranty. If you look on <strong class=”ido-tag-strong”>Walleye Central and compare used rigs the cheapest ones and most leftovers have Etec or G2’s hanging on the back.

Correct, I bought a boat listed on WC this winter after watching it daily. The ones with E-tecs were the cheapest yet stayed on there the longest.

I have not shopped for a couple of years but have a DCS which I like a lot because of the huge BTU’s If I want to sear it does that nicely. I also have a Viking grill at a lake home. That too has nice features and does get very hot if I want that but takes a little longer.
On the DCS I have had to replace ceramic bars after about eight years of use, thats all, very dependable.
I’ve only ran about 8-10 bottles of propane through the Viking in the 4 years I’ve had it but not problems at all. I like the automatic ignition of the Viking.

I’d still like to learn the possibilities of a thicker gunnel in the cockpit section. Just a couple of inches would allow the use of 3700 boxes. After fishing out of a lot of Ranger 620, Nitro ZX and Lunds with the boxes in the rear I hate dancing around those to reach over the side.

With their FS series Ranger added holders for pliers in several locations, does this boat have those? Same storage in the gunnels as the current models? How much bigger is the front deck? Is it wider or the windshield moved back? I have been reluctant to part with my MX and look at the WX because I do not like the jump seats so I am now a buyer for this new model.
I added a 36″ track behind each rail for downriggers, is that still possible?
WOW I’m excited to stay in a Skeeter rather than change brands.

I just came through the same dilemma. Bought two new Interstate replacements @ Costco for 80. each

Thanks for the quick reply Eric,
Costco sells Interstate grp 27’s but not the 29 which is what I was looking for. The SRM 29 sells for 141. through Interstate and the 27DC is 80. @ Costco so I went with the smaller one and saved 60 per battery.

I currently have a Skeeter MX 1825 which I like a lot but hate the storage. ex. It rained here last night and I did not have the mooring cover on, only the cockpit cover so I KNOW the two front compartments are wet, and everything inside is wet. Not damp soaking wet. I feel loyal to Skeeter but what is it worth?
I have been in a number of Rangers through the NWT series the last two years and am very impressed.
My perception of Warrior is they are a fishermans fishing boat. Like the idea that the guys that design them fish hard out of them.

Maybe this is the reason Skeeter went to the ventilation system. All Skeeters must have dry storage problems.

Those rear compartments are where I store rod holders, waterproof tool box, drift sock, bumpers, etc. Where do you store those type items?

If you have enough storage you need more tackle! haha
I don’t feel a couple of inches alone the entire area would be as restrictive as the Ranger or Lund boxes sitting in the rear. They protrude in to the cockpit area almost 1 ft.

No I don’t see how you could stand 3700’s up in the side and then could not see the sides of the boxes but if the gunnel was just a little wider you could use 3700’s where we now use 3600. Another thing that seems like boat makers do because that is everyone has always done is to hang wiring and cables from the bottoms of the gunnel. Why not run that cable and wiring at the bottom where the floor meets the side of the boat. Make those side compartments taller and get those cables down in the wasted space. Any reason that would not work?

I like the side storage of my 1825. As you know Ranger does storage a little different with the larger boxes toward the rear, Lund now uses a similar design but it is removable. I hear guys complain about those boxes getting in the way and that is correct you have to kind of work around them. Would it be a workable design to make the gunnels wider so bigger boxes would fit in the same area as Skeeter now uses?As I said I like the current design but need more storage.

Any idea what the rectangular cut outs on the bow and stern are for?

Tool holders for pliers, scissors, etc. The can holders definitely needs no explanation. :toast:

I would have guessed that was part of the venting system.

Copy of what Ranger did last year. Scissor and pliers holders
