I have heard it has been a tough bite out there.

We found our fish tight to some weeds in 7-9 ft of water. The wind was blowing into them as well.
We were out two weekends ago and the bite on Bitter was incredible. It was no problem for three guys to bring home a limit of eyes in less than two hours. Lots of 13 inch fish were thrown back, but easily get fish over 14 inches and a few 15s, 16s. We were fishing tight to the weeds with some wind blowing into them. We jigged with leeches, but I switched to a Berkley gulp minnow and rip jigged and put a clinic on for the boys using live bait.
Got it. All I had to do was give the file that I wanted to save and transfer a different name on the SD card. Now my H2O is too full. I couldn’t transfer all way points. Suck!
Was just out in NE SD for three days. I would say the bite is going strong. Fished five different lakes in those 3 days. All of them produced fish. Biggest walleye was 26″. Many over 20″. Had a big perch in the 13.5″ range and lots of above average size pike too. Can’t forget about the white bass either. They can put up a nice fight as well. Our main methods were trolling crank baits in 6-8 ft. of water or casting weed lines and flats.
I’m a fire line guy for jigging, trolling raps and fluoro guy for rigging. I like 8lb for almost everything except trolling raps. I use 10 lb.
I can’t get away from the sensitivity of braid. I like to feel everything. I will use a fluoro leader in clear water tied with a uni knot to my fire line. I always use a heavier pound test leader than the fire line main line, otherwise I have problems breaking the leader.
My favorite way to fish panfish in summer is with a spinner rig. I use a spinner like you would use with walleyes, only use smaller # 6 hooks. Tip with a chunk of crawler for gills or crappie minnow for crappies. Works great for finding them and then once you are on them, you can bobber or pitch a jig.
This is the time of year to follow this information. Bluegills are spawning. Please use good judgement.
