I think I would just go with the lower proof stuff and drink twice as much..

Hey guys thanks for the replies so far. Do you think I’m better off using powder paint over air brush for jigs? If I go the route of powder paint would it be wise to get a fluid bed? Thanks again
If no detail, “YES” without a doubt powder paint. Hands down, if done properly powder paint is very durable. Fluid bed and heat gun are a must. See my post above for fluid bed and I just went to Harbor Freight and purchased a heat gun for $7.
After that, buy the colors you like and you’re set.
April 2, 2014 at 10:52 am #1401316I use the paasche model h-1 paired with createx paint. I found this to be a good combo for the price. I don’t get real detailed on jig heads, but I will paint a sexy shad scheme with 3 different colors every once in awhile.
If doing standard walleye/crappie jigs, bullet weights, things with no detail required, etc….I just go with powder paint for the durability. No doubt you will want to use a fluid bed for the powder paint. I built mine out of PVC and coffee filters for less then $20.

A little tip that helps a lot- take a toothpick and stir the powder. This kind of aerates it and fluffs it up and the jig slides in easier.
Heat gun from Harbor Freight $7, works like a charm. Powder paint needs to be fluffed to allowed a clean smooth finish, check out a fluid bed for fluffing….simple easy build for about $20. Toaster oven to harden paint and you have an indestructible jig. Good luck!
December 12, 2013 at 12:20 pm #1370980You have a battery-plus, battery-mart or any battery store in your area? I had the same problem last year and picked one up at my local battery mart.
December 9, 2013 at 7:02 am #1369788I have had some trouble with using re-sharpened blades on my mora as well….even the slightest pitch would not allow the auger to cut. I messed with my blades for a solid day before coming to the conclusion that I could only get one sharpening out of them before it did more harm then good. I ended up biting the bullet and buying new blades and it worked perfect with no tweaking required.
March 12, 2013 at 8:03 pm #1151314Seems I better just stay with the 3 batteries. Thanks for all the posts!
January 17, 2013 at 9:21 pm #1132051I have a Mako M43 8″ last year and it has been a good auger for me. Gets a touch heavy after drilling a dozen holes, but it starts, runs and cuts like a champ. This year for some reason the recoil cord was not retracting all the way leaving the handle 8″ from full retraction. I made a call to customer service and informed them of my problem and before I knew it they were asking for my address and informing me I had an entire recoil assembly coming my way via speedy deliver. You want to talk about standing behind a product……I will give Ardisam two solid thumbs up for CUSTOMER SERVICE.
December 27, 2012 at 9:29 pm #1124491I bought the same LX-5 from Reeds and my battery went this year as well. 3-4 years out of a battery is pretty good I would say. If proper charging is not done you would be lucky to get that. Needed one quick and just picked up one at Gander Mtn for $24.99.
No knock on Reeds here I love that place!
December 19, 2012 at 4:13 pm #1121944Good work!
One thing I notice and like is the rod holder attachment for the flasher. Wonder if Marcum will soon follow…..
December 18, 2012 at 1:08 pm #1121507Does anyone find it challenging reading a flasher at times with the long rod?
July 8, 2012 at 12:55 am #1081895Power Pro Slick for braid and sugio flouro for everything else….
I use 17lb sugio for flipping. Good luck!
May 29, 2012 at 12:52 pm #1071884I think you guys are on to something there. I did run it yesterday morning and it did it again….went 200 yards and alarm signaled and would not allow me to do anything. That tells me right that once it cools down you can run it until it heats up.
Will check it out.
May 7, 2012 at 5:03 pm #1066307I have had a Cabelas Prosport 8 in my boat sense 07. Been a workhorse and still ticking. Hard to beat for the money. I don’t think they have the 8 anymore, but the 12 is $80 on sale right now.
Good luck!
