Actually SpeeDee is pretty darn good. For the large number of packages we send out daily with them we have very few problems. Not that they don’t mess up occasionally, but for the most part they are pretty good. We can use UPS but the costs are usually 2X as much for the same or slower service than SpeeDee.

We haven’t changed anything on any of the baits that would cause any change in action, pulsing, etc.. There will always be a little variety in the core colors as its a delicate process to get the core colors exactly the same in the injection process. I have made a more concerted effort to make sure the cores are completely filled, ideally somewhere in between the 2 examples posted, but again some variances are the norm. I’d second to remove the nubs, they are supposed to be removed in the picking process but given the huge increase in popularity, we are having a hard time keeping up with orders.

I was up there yesterday fishing with Bret Alexander, filming for MidWest Outdoors, and ran into the same thing. All the big females were spawned out and the Suckers were thick. We were on the Peshtigo River and the eyes were eating up the Catalpa Orange/Chart Ringworms.

There is always a possibility as we are looking to add some new colors to the lineup.
Feel free to post your new color requests and pics of the colors requested would be a great help.

    Question Pearl or White tail???

Yeah, Freezing rain, thundersnow, hail and HIGH WINDS, aren’t a good mix on these IA roads, especially while pulling a trailer.

    1/16th are #12 hooks, 1/8th #10, 1/4 & 5/16th are #6 Hooks on the Regular Series.

Yes they are available still in Motor Oil, must be a glitch online. You can order any color and then put a note on the order that you don’t want “such and such color but actually want motor Oil” and they’ll make the switch.

We haven’t changed anything, it looks like a bad jig ,we would never do an offset eye like the one in this picture. We sell so many jigs over the course of a year that occasionally a few bad ones slip through QC. Stuff happens, send me a PM with your name address etc and I’ll be happy to send a few replacements out.

Nice catch. Looks like those Jumbos are eating those Pro Series Slenders like candy.

Good info. So, if I’m ice fishing – primarily for eyes – on Red or LOTW what would be your go-to size?

    1/8th Gold/Red, Gold/Green Gold/Glow for those waters.

One sort of a related issue…most of the Slender Spoons I’ve seen in stores are the 1/8 or 1/4 sizes. But I see on reports/shows a lot of guys talking about 5/16 oz. Any thoughts on how that size compares to what appears to be the more common 1/4 size?

Actually the 1/8th size is the most popular size as it’s the most versatile. You often catch Gills, Crappie, Perch and Walleyes on the 1/8th, where the 1/4th is most often used for Big eyes and Lakers.
2nd most popular size is 1/16th, mainly for the pan-fisherman.

I believe he’s referring to the New Pro Series Slender Spoons, not the originals. MSRP is around $5.00 however there are some stores/dealers that are selling them a little below that ( for now).

We have lots of the 1/8th Clown in stock, for now, in what you call the ‘Old” version.Tell you what, go ahead and keep those and give them a try, no sense spending extra postage on $8.00 worth of lures, that’s silly. I’ll send the others out no charge. If you need anything else ,let’s communicate via email rather than cluttering the IDO boards.

Before this gets discussed at length, I was able to locate some of the version Kou is looking for. He got a few of a “revised” edition that shouldn’t have been sent out. He is correct, what he calls the ‘Old” version is what’s on the website, with the fake eyes, don’t know I’d call them 3d but certainly not painted. Funny I tried to call him back, within a few minutes after talking to him and wasn’t able to reach him so I left a VM. To my surprise in that short time frame I received an email from him and was told about this post on IDO.
If he’d like to return those I’ll be happy to send out replacements and reimburse his return postage as well.
Sorry for the confusion. Sorry your 1st order from us and your 1st post on IDO were a result of our error.

From my experience, every single gold jig is dull. It would be nice to see someone actually mask off the hook point for once.

We plate ours with real gold and it’s my understanding it’s not possible to protect the hook during the plating process which is probably why “all” Gold plated jigs aren’t as sharp as the un-plated. Few swipes of a hook sharpener fixes that.

    1/8th & 3/16th= 1/0
    1/4th & 5/16th= 2/0
    3/8th & 1/2 = 3/0

I couldn’t make it there and back for $7. Plus they do not have a retail store so I’d have to hit up scheels which I hate doing…

Luckily James was nice enough to send me a birthday present so I didnt have to spend the $7 shipping to order some slenders!

We have a Flat $6.00 shipping charge on all orders under $80.00 ( Free over 80) , clearly stated ( not hidden), as we send everything Priority Mail in a box ( protection and trackable ) and we don’t send anything in an “.88 padded envelope” when we charge you shipping. If we make an error and send something out or if we do a special deal for someone we might. So I’d appreciate if you’d at least post accurate info. Not to be snippy but if a newbie is reading this they might get wrong info.

As I responded to your email yesterday it’s merely a typo , in that when we added 2 new colors to the Kit #1, taking it to 72 pieces, my Webguy didn’t update the drop down piece count number. Same thing with the #2 kit.
    Sorry for the confusion.
