Small Shed and Morels

I found a tall-tined 3pt shed while fixing fences on Friday. Only the brow tine was sticking out of the grass, so I was pretty pumped. My dad was chatting with the neighbor at the time. I roared out my mandatory ‘WOOOHOOOOOO’ and the neighbor asked my dad, ‘what was that!?!’. To his reply, ‘Oh, Jed just found a shed’.

I was at my grandparents’ farm in extreme NE Iowa on Sunday and went for a quick walk to check the elm trees. I only found one tree with morels, so I picked a pound of the bigger ones and left A LOT more of them that were very tiny. A few of my cousins called BS , so I took them down after lunch. Both of them said they had never seen so many morels by one tree. Although we did not sell them, that tree produced about 4 lbs and appx 300 mushrooms. If only they would have been descent sized, it would have been a monster jackpot. Needless to say, everyone that wanted to eat morels was able to take home a few meals worth. What a great Easter (and birthday) for me!
