West Okoboji report July 19th,2003

    I spent some time on West Okoboji this morning with 2 of my boys.I wanted them to catch some bass as they are always fun for kids.We picked up smallies on Pillsbury and Gull Points.We ended up with 9 smallies and 1 largemouth with the biggest fish at 16″‘s.West Okoboji is just a great smallmouth fishery.There are alot of rock piles that always have a few smallmouth on them.My boys know we try to get them back into the water as soon as possible,never to early to learn C&R.I’m going to send Dave Koonce a pic of Cole with a smallie.I can’t seem to get it posted.

    Thanks for the report and pic Ryan. Spent my first sixteen years of life vacationing on Okoboji with my family then we moved to Rochester, Mn. Didn’t fish back then, just drove around in a boat. Its a beautiful lake. Thanks, Bill
