Scheels to the Rescue

We went down to Omaha for a weekend away and I was really looking forward to looking at and picking up some off the new BPS excluse Flicker Shad colors. You would think that since they put a big section in their mailing about the sale that they were having on Flicker Shads that they would have some in stock. WRONG!!! They didn’t have crap for selection and nobody know when of if they were going to get anymore.

Then Scheels came the rescue Some of the Scheels exclusive colors are amazing and they had Flicker Shads in 5 different places and a huge selection avaiable. Well Done Scheels

I ordered a bunch online last week from BPS. It said they were in stock and shipped. Hope that is right.

I would like to mention that 90% of the flickers at scheel’s are #5’s; But there is a huge selection of them. (That was a week ago)

That was not the case this weekend. They had tons of #5 and #7 cranks available

Supplies at any store can change from day to day. In fact On Friday when the big Spring Classic Sale started at BP they had a full supply. Rumor has it they were nearly wiped out by 2-3 customers on Friday evening that were filling baskets full. They have been selling them as fast as they get them and for good reason. Bass Pro has 9 new exclusive colors that everyone wants to have this year. I haven’t even gotten my hands on any of the BP colors yet and I’m at the store a lot. Scheels has been very reliable for Flickers for several years now but even they have had times when certain colors or sizes have been hard to get. This time of year I would put them in your cart if you see them in a store. If you wait for them to go on sale they will likely be gone before you can make it to the sale.

I ordered a dozen more from Cabelas but they only have a few colors. I need to find an excuse to head east if I want to find any kind of selection.

BTW Zach how many flicker shads do you have now. I bet you can open your flicker shad store by now LOL.
My wife thinks I have a problem collecting tackle. You should bring your tackle box by and show my wife that I am not that bad.

Rumor mill was way off Ben. I got there with my family at 4:00pm on Friday and they were down to basically what they had when I saw you Saturday morning. We got some great deals on some clearance clothes for the family and the kids really liked seeing the fish tank again.

I know you have to stick up for your sponsor Ben, and BPS has never disappointed me in the past, but if you are going to have a big sale and advertise a product like they did, it is only right, in my opinion, for the store to be prepaired to meet customer need. We are not talking about milk here that is going to go out of condition.

I was at BPS at 9am on Friday and there were a lot of people waiting to get in. I saw guys with carts full of some of the special sale items. I didn’t look real close at what they had. After ordering my boat I was at BPS all weekend in Altoona Iowa. Each year during the Spring Classic runs on special items can go fast. The Red Eye Shad lipless crankbaits were going very fast. I know they sold about 300 or so on Saturday alone. There were a couple customers who hit the Flicker Shad first thing in the morning friday and wiped them out as well. For some anglers the first morning of the Spring Classic is black friday for them so it is very possible they were wiped clean before 10am. From what I saw Friday morning it was the case with several items. It would be hard for any store to prepare for a sale when one customer is willing to buy 100 or more baits at one time.

I respectfully have to disagree with you Jason. This is the very reason why companies have consumer specialists and customer relations employees on staff. The BPS Spring Fishing Classic runs for a little over 2 weeks and I think it is a poor job of prepartion for a store to run out of an item on the first day. Especially if they are coming out with, like Ben said, 9 exclusive BPS colors.

I’m still having a hard time trying to visualize how you guys are going to use all of these Flicher Shads through 18″ of ice. I really don’t think that my old Jiffy can drill enough holes to do it.

Sounds like the up coming track season has got you all worked up and activated your funny bone Jorg . You may want to go se the the Dr. though and make sure it isn’t broken

Bad thing is Zac I went to the Doctor yesterday to see about last week’s operation and it wasn’t on a funny bone. It shouldn’t keep me from fishing toooooooo long; just make it uncomfortable.

Thanks, I apprecate it. I guess it is time to take the Crestliner to Brad and see if we can’t get another year out of it. I always have a hard time making the transition from ice to open water or also the opposite. It just seems that things are just getting good when the change comes. As soon as the prespawn bite starts at Sherman and the quad is put away in the storage building it will all be good.

Now next year there will be a limit of one per customer.

    That’s so true!

I was just thinking about when the Flicker Shads first came out a few years ago. They were working so good I would go into a store and buy them out just so nobody else could get their hands on them. Them were the days . Now my lovely wife has me figured out.

Monster box #1 Berkley Flicker Shads
Monster box #2 Rapala Glass Shadraps
    Monster box #3 Rapala Shadraps
    Monster box #4 Bill Normans
Monster box #5 Hot n Tots

What will be in the next box to hide from the wife?

You better start another box of Flickers. Too many new colors came out this year.

Don’t think that I will need another box, Ben. By the time this old man gets to any of the stores they are out of them already. I wished I worked for Berkley; I could come up with enough color combinations to cause a stampede.

So that’s what you were doing yesterday. You saw those new colors so you cleaned off a couple pegs so no one else could buy them

Hey Zach if you thiks its bad not having things in stock for a sale you must have never been in cabelas for their sales.I’ve been there at opening first day of sales and not found any of the colors of their sale items.Companies do this on purpose they are teasers.Have some get you in the door and you buy all the stuff that you werent going to get at near full price.Later when they refill you come back for more.
