I just got an Ice Helix 5 G3 for my birthday. Are they that hard on batteries that I need to get a lithium battery? Do the 12-15 ah lithium fit in the Humminbird shuttle? I’m looking at the Vexilar 12ah & charger combo. Are they all pretty much a standard size up to 15ah?

I get about a day of fishing using a 9ah ago battery. Not a 16 hour day mind you, more like a 8 to 10 hr day.

The Helix 5 is pretty easy on batteries, but this is coming from a guy that still runs normal batteries on my Marcum units. I do use lithium for the Livescope setup.

I run the Vex lithium on my helix 5 and no issues with running out of power.I have gone 2 6-8hr days before charging with plenty to spare.

I’m planning to get the neighbors helix 7g3 off his boat and get myself the ice kit and wasn’t sure what to do for a battery

Your arm will appreciate the weight savings, especially if you are a run and gun fisherman

Was leaning towards a 15 or 20 ah. Usually do sleepers and try not to run the generator too much.

I am pretty confident 15s do.

I have two helix 7 shuttles. One has an 8 ah lead acid and the other a 10ah lithium. I haven’t had any issues with battery life; although I rarely stay on the ice more than 6-8 hours. They say turning the brightness down helps conserve battery.

    15 ah amped will fit. 20 won’t.

I wonder if a Norsk 20 would fit. The shuttle I’m planning to get is the same one that comes with a norsk 20 if you purchase the unit and shuttle as a kit.

I’ve been running some eco something lifep04 off ebay. I also have 2 of the vexilar lithium batteries. The eco had been great so far this winter
