Vehicle ban on lakes

    Effective today(01-16-02) there is a ban on driving cars and trucks on the Rice County lakes. There are signs posted at many of the public and private accesses to the lakes in Rice county. The fine for violating it is $700. I don’t know if this has occurred in other counties or not. This also means that there will not be any parking on the shoreline ice. ATV and snowmobile travel is still being allowed.

    A similar ban is in effect on lake pepin( ya I know It’s part of the mississippi) only this ban is for ALL moterized vehicals. I don’t know of any fine’s but with the ice only 4 to 8 inches. your fine could be DEATH…… BE CAREFUL PLEASE!!!!!
