How has the bite been on Rainy? We missed a fall trip last year and are thinking of hitting Rainy. The lake surveys don’t look overly promising, are these worthless on Rainy? I know Vermilion very well, but were thinking the fishing might be better on Rainy. Any thoughts on how the two compare?

    Thank you!

No experience on Vermilion here but I enjoy my fall Rainy Lake trip just as much as my summer trip to NW Ontario. I will be there fishing for 4 days in early October again. There are 2 of us that go, this will be year #6 and we seem to do better each year on the quality of walleyes and if we find any crappies, thats a nice bonus. We only fish on the MN side

I haven’t heard much at all about Rainy this year. Compare that to a few years ago when every guide up there was putting up posts almost daily. You can read what you want into that.

I miss that this forum used to be very active. Fish don’t seem to care though.

Sorry, I can’t compare to Vermillion. I’m a twice a year north arm guy as my trail in the Rainy forum shows wave
