I think you have a certain amount of time to roll it into a qualified IRA but I would check with your tax person or investment person to make sure. It was quite a few years ago that I did that and my memory’s not as good as it once was.

Thanks Jack and Happy Birthday to you as well. I’m having a great day – spent 8 hrs on the ice with Bret Clark and Tom Donaldson watching for flags on this beautiful day and had a great time. I’m thinking I should get my Harley out tomorrow so we get that last snow storm out of the way which usually happens right after my first ride every year.

Safety is what think of first with a new fisherman/boater and I would encourage a boater safety course. When I moved to La Crosse 15 years ago I told my 2 sons they would take a boaters safety course if they wanted to take the boat out and in return they said I had to take it with them. I had mainly fished lakes prior to that. Man was I glad I took that course with them. The guy who taught it was maybe 40 and had spent his whole life on the river and brought a whole new awareness to river boating with some of his experiences. Like mentioned above wing dams, closing dams, but also navigation rules, respecting the effects of the big boats/barges AND THE EFFECTS OF CURRENT and what it can do. I must admit I found the course just as beneficial as did my sons and I am proud to say that Dad kicked their on the test also.
    Good Luck – Be safe.

Take a plank along as it looks like the river is rising a little and there was lots of water on the edges, too far to jump, to get on good ice. After that the ice was a good 28″ or so. Good luck

Even with the forecast for tomorrow I washed both vehicles out in the driveway yesterday just to be able to spend some time outdoors and in the sun. It sure felt great.

Sorry to hear about your son’s diagnosis. My wife was diagnosed at age 60 but has had very minor episodes – Thank God. Try to find an MS group in your area. There is one in La Crosse that meets monthly with guest speakers from various different parts of the MS puzzle and we have learned a lot from them as far as the medications, different therapys and various treatment plans/options offered. The National MS society also offers symposiums that are very informative. There is also a Wisconsin chapter. Best wishes for your son.

Heard on the news that it may take a week to open that road. Sure hope they have a good supply of bread and beer.

That sounds like fun Jeff. Wish I could make it. Potosi beer, that’s some good stuff right there.

I don’t even own any kind of ice gear stout enough that would allow me to catch anything like that. That would be a fish of a lifetime.

That was some pretty “high tech” stuff back in the day. So what made you decide to take over the world with stink bait?

yea last weekend ice was still a little thin towards shore, 2 to 3 inches in some spots

Right out from the boat landing it looked wet yet this morning – would have to walk around it.

No wonder the wind off the lake was so darn cold a few weeks ago when we were riding the Harley around the U.P.
