Just called a MN Conservation Officer who works the river and he told me that his superiors told him that because it is catch and release on the MN side, a Canadian limit of walleyes can’t be brought across the line at all. Didn’t tell me where to find this in writing. Probably is not. He said the only option to eat walleyes would be to clean and eat on the Canadian side. Not doing that! No big deal really but do like a fish fry at the end of the day also.

Blair, thanks for the info. I found the clamps I was looking for at a race car shop of all places.

Thanks for that link! If that bumper by chance mounts to my Polaris I will go that route or look into welding. Appreciate it!

    Thanks Captain Musky,

I didn’t have any luck finding any accessories from Artic Cat. Could you explain anymore about what your buddy did with his?

    Thanks, Nate

Thanks for the responses. Weeders digest is calling me back because they might be out of stock also but it’s good to know that they bought the rights to the company. All the past retailers that carried are out of stock. Thanks again.

Thanks for the the responses. What do you mean by ping rate? I just bought last year and Marcum didn’t mention updating software when I called recently. They only mentioned what I had already tried. I fish next to my buddy with his Lowrance. And neither unit shows any interference. Thanks again. Nate

Hi, Dave. I have been to the river three times since then. Have done really well in spring and pretty good last fall. I was up on deer opener. Fished up river from mouth of big Fork during the fall trip as well as around Birchdale. Caught nice fish both places casting jigs and plastics. There were guys trolling in the fall doing good but that’s not my thing. Watch in depth outdoors shows on the river and do and use what they do. I fish just like how they do and have always caught fish there. Canada or Minnesota doesn’t matter too much.

    Good Luck,

    Nate

I decided to stick with the HT riggers I have used in the past because they pack up better for me and take less room.

Big storm, I attached an image of the parking lot you will want to use to fish the harbor. It is just before the large park just before the airport. There is a small boat ramp there. You can walk straight out from where you park. You will see where people pull there shacks down. I like 8′ of water but I always fish it as soon as it freezes and then the crowds come and I leave it alone. You don’t need to be out by the channel though. I like red and orange spoons on the smaller side. A red spoon dead sticked with a fathead does good for me. Send me a message if you have any other questions about lakes up here. Nate

Thanks TripleA, so if I cycle through all available IR’s on one unit and it clears that one, then it should clear both?

Thanks a lot for the tips. I did press the IR once on one unit and then once on the other and messed with the beam. I didn’t realize that it might take multiple times pushing IR to clear up. I just read users manual and it said just that. Should have read it! Thanks again, Nate

I will measure it for you but I think it’s the only size they make in the heavy duty

I used a strike master lithium all last season and will be sticking with that. Great to just push a button. Just don’t need the Jiffy any more. The only thing I would say bad about both Jiffy propanes I have had is they can take multiple pulls to start at times. If not drilling a lot not a big deal.

I have worn Kamik Workday 3 boots for my job for twelve years. I would always find myself using them for ice fishing. I have owned lots of other boots and even two other styles of Kamiks. Last year I bought a pair of Workday 3’s exclusively for ice fishing. They are full rubber with a steel toe. The steel toe does not effect my toes getting cold at all and I really like having it when kicking ice chunks. These boots are not too hot like some and if I feel I need more warmth I just wear wool socks instead of just a sock liner. I do add an extra Kamik insole that feels great on the foot and fills up some space. What I really love about these boots is the height and size of top. My bibs fit over the boot perfect which isn’t the case with some. Only boots I’ll ever wear ice fishing. Been through and looked at quite a few.

Thanks! Yeah I started using the minnow z for smallies too on gopher tackle mushroom heads. On the right weight head I can get it to almost suspend when killed and cold water smallies smash it sometimes. I use VMC mooneye jigs on them for walleyes. Thanks for the info and I will pick up a few packs. Nate

Deron, are you using the jerky j swims or regular? Good looking bait, what colors do you like? My favorite paddle tail is the Z man minnow Z 3″ in pearl/blue glimmer, Houdini, and chartreuse. Almost always have one tied on.

Slow death and crawler with bouncer and various spinners with bouncer. Tried areas in the 20′ range that I know produce fish at times. Saw a few boats who were sitting on deeper spots for an entire morning or afternoon so they must have been into fish. They were jigging and rigging it looked like.
