Thanks for all the helpful suggestions. I appreciate them and will use them to better define my search. It’s also been suggested a 5th wheel that could also pull my boat. But that means a new truck.

New to motor homes, I heard gas engines are popular. Under 70,000 miles. Still has some life left.
March 5, 2024 at 11:00 am #2258185Hmmm, I’ve looked for diet studies that might support the idea that Smallies have more of an impact on walleyes than other fish. Diet studies on Smallies show reliance on crawfish. Not to say that all fish prey on each other. However the biggest factor in walleye numbers are increases in small pike. This is the rational for the MN central zone pike regs. It’s an attempt to reduce small pike by keeping the 21-23 inch pike in the system. They are the biggest small pike eaters. The more we can harvest under the slot, the greater the benefit to walleye production.
March 5, 2024 at 9:13 am #2258127Good question, another is “ Why is there a season?”. All surrounding States have year round. The Mn DNR can give no biological or scientific reason not to. Bass will do better with climate changes than walleyes or Pike and have been expanding in density, recruitment and population numbers in MN lakes. The myth that it is closed to protect the spawn isn’t supported since since 1966 the regular opener has been before or during spawn especially in central and northern MN
March 5, 2024 at 9:03 am #2258119The only Spring C&R for Bass is from the walleye opener until May 25th. It becomes a C&R and harvest season then,
January 21, 2024 at 12:28 pm #22492173R, this topic has come up every year. I don’t see the DNR or Legislature having any interest in licensing guides. But it is an attention getter. It’s most impossible to get anglers to focus on actual problems and solutions. They usually only bite on the sound bites
January 21, 2024 at 11:42 am #2249210The All Recipes chili is similar to my own concoction. I use venison or chuck roast, I simmer it in the chili then shred it when it’s soft.
January 21, 2024 at 11:10 am #2249203Mike not in any topic, only in a few side comments. My sense is that the recent changes need to play out for a couple years. Just my opinion.
January 14, 2024 at 9:13 pm #2247534B-man, thanks but I’m down in Ramsey and don’t think I’ll be up your way anytime soon. Thanks
December 9, 2023 at 6:11 pm #2240890I’ve needed warranty work a number of times and they always came through, even three years later. Had some problems getting the bifocal in the right place but they kept at it. Then one of the lenses kept popping out. But as I said, they were 100% true to the warranty. I’d purchase again.
August 21, 2023 at 11:35 am #2219980One would think that if they had a vessel that went up and removed them, that it could be used to bring them back.
August 21, 2023 at 6:37 am #2219926There is a major concern about the sandbar at Afton. Without it being marked there will be problems.
August 20, 2023 at 5:17 pm #2219870I heard it was because they determined that it wasn’t navigational waters? Doesn’t make sense.
May 20, 2023 at 6:58 pm #2203857One advantage might be that with the popularity of “Boat Clubs” that put inexperienced operators out there, is that it might give them the basics?
May 17, 2023 at 6:02 pm #2203232So how much for Accesses and how much for hatcheries? The ask was 50,000 for hatcheries.
May 13, 2023 at 3:53 pm #2202412I went with 3 50amp Ionics. Getting 3 days of 4-6 hours fishing. Wish I had gotten the 100’s. No problems in 22 but this year one of the won’t wake up (did everything the Ionic technician said to do) they sent me a shipping label, and it’s on its way back. Good customer service
May 10, 2023 at 10:23 pm #2201911#1 we have been legally opening the Bass season during spawn since a closed season was established. There is no evidence that this has reduced density or recruitment of Lg or Sm Bass.
#2 With the exception of Muskie’s there is no biological, recruitment or scientific reason not to keep Walleye season open year round.
#3 the best way to improve Walleye fishing in MN is to increase harvest of small pike.
#4 Anyone who believes otherwise will be placed on the naughty list
SantaApril 24, 2023 at 10:53 am #2198453MN-Fish has worked tirelessly to get hatchery and access dollars. I’m trying to find out why it isn’t in the House bill. If I find out I’ll let you know. FYI I emailed Rick Hanson my support of the two line river reg. But he didn’t reply

NO but you get points for creativity

That still leaves $50 million for Fish Hatchery Reconstruction/Betterment and $15 million for modernizing boat accesses. Isn’t that still considered a win for MN anglers if it passes as is? I’d certainly think so.Depends. Are they stealing the whole 17 billion?
Kerry, what’s your source?
April 21, 2023 at 6:39 pm #2197869Mark Holsten is the MN Fish executive director and lobbyist for them.
Mark served as the Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) from 2003-2007 before being appointed as Commissioner of the DNR by Governor Pawlenty from 2007 to 2011. Prior to that Mark was elected six times to the Minnesota House of Representatives.April 21, 2023 at 6:28 pm #2197866I subscribe to Outdoor News and pay a subscription. Somewhere I signed up for there MN newsletter that comes as an email
April 21, 2023 at 6:16 pm #2197861I continue to want to support MN Fish. Our problem as anglers is that we have never figured out a way to become/grow an organization like Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited or Muskies Inc. Deer, Turkey, Grouse, Goose hunters have found ways to be effective and get what they need. The Bow fishing guys and Darkhouse Assn used grassroots organizing to change regulations in their favor. It’s folks with a shared love and vision for the outdoors.Maybe it isn’t so much what they haven’t been doing for us, rather what we haven’t been doing for them?
April 21, 2023 at 11:07 am #2197736Lol , I wasn’t referring to MN Fish, at least their trying. How ironic that an organization that folks criticize over and over again, gets blamed.
April 21, 2023 at 10:49 am #2197731My take on this is that it’s another example of anglers not having a seat at the table. We need boots, shoes, waders on the ground at the State Capital, sitting in hearings and visiting legislators. One definition of a hypocrite is someone who criticize others for the same things that themselves do.
