Regardless, it failed and set them back. How many other franchises were giving fringe all stars 10 year deals? The Wilds ownership have mismanaged the draft and free agency and that’s why they can’t get out of a first round series. They were 13 year contracts, but I digress. Again, there isnt a GM in the league back then that wouldnt have done it. So since you arent close to the WIld or NHL for that matter, the deals didnt set them back UNTIL the NHL punished them after the fact. “Fringe all stars”? Please. Regardless that is all water under the bridge at this point. The ownership has proven time and time again that they are willing to do what it takes. You cannot just buy championships. Lots of things happen over the course of the season and the wild have been ravaged by injuries the last couple years and havent seemed to managed the leveraging LTIR like some others have cough cough Vegas and Tampa to name a couple. The Wild have work to do this off season which I am confident they will do. If they can keep KK97 happy and re-sign him to a blockbuster deal along with the other key pieces they have and bring in some needs at other spots then this team will be poised for a long run and a legit chance at a championship soon.
I agree with this. If the wild can keep some key pieces, I expect them to make a deep run into the playoffs. Next year is our year!?!?
