GREEN BAY, Wis. (May 11, 2004) – The $440,000 Wal-Mart RCL Walleye League will stage a $25,955 Wisconsin Division event on Green Bay May 22. The tournament is the second of three regular-season Wisconsin Division tournaments and will feature as many as 200 walleye anglers fishing for cash awards and contingency bonuses.
The Green Bay Metro Boat Launch located at 90 Bay Beach Road in Green Bay will host takeoff at 7 a.m. and weigh-in at 3 p.m. The community is encouraged to attend the takeoff and weigh-in.
One hundred Boater Division competitors and 100 co-anglers constitute a full field, with boaters competing for a top award of as much as $4,000 based on a full field. The winner can earn as much as $3,500 cash, and if he is a qualified owner of a Ranger, Crestliner or Lund boat, he will be awarded a $500 cash contingency bonus. In RCL League competition, boaters and co-anglers are randomly paired for the event and fish for a combined boat weight. Boaters compete against other boaters, and co-anglers compete against other co-anglers.
Four RCL Walleye League divisions – Michigan, Minnesota, South Dakota and Wisconsin –each feature two one-day events and one two-day Super Tournament during the regular season. Every angler who receives weight credit earns points, with 200 points awarded to the winner, 199 for second, 198 for third, and so on, except for Super Tournaments, which award 300 points to the winner, 299 for second, 298 for third, and so on. These points determine angler standings.
The top 25 boaters and 25 co-anglers from each RCL League division advance to the $100,000 Wal-Mart RCL Walleye League Finals, set for Sept. 2-4 on Bays de Noc in Escanaba, Mich. The Wisconsin Division season will wrap up with a Super Tournament July 10-11 on Lake Winnebago.
