well it wasnt fast and furious fishing but we did boat our fairshare of fish yesterday, got out at 5:30 and started fishing behind the boat docks. had a couple short strikes so we put stingers on and got a small smalle and 2 (8, 14) saugers. so we moved down river a little bit to the point around the marina and it was on.. got a couple little saugers. then moved in a little bit shallower 5-10 fow and drug lindy rigs and ive never caught so many big smallies in my life. we probaly ended up catching around 20 or so. lindy rigs with floaters and minnows. biggest went almost 5 lbs(forgot the digital camera so its on a disposable). with a couple 4s and 3s. after that died off we drove down to buffalo slough and ran up towards the casino and turned around and started our first troll. not 2 mins after we set up dad caught a 14 7/8 in eye. that was the only fish there in an hour of fishing. so we ran back up to see if the smallies were still there but the werent so we ran up the croix. stopped at the point out from the bluffs and only i fished(dad snoozed in the bottom of the boat). i threw out 2 lindys 1 with red hook, chartruse bead, and leech, and 1 with a red slow death hook with crawler. missed 2 fish on each(asleep at the wheel). so ran back down towards presscott and fished off the point again. ended up catching 5 respectable saaugers for dinner tonight and probaly 10 shaorts. the key was to turn the bow mount on constantly on 4 or 5(speed) and go into the current. start at the first wing dam that is marked and just go up to the point. hot rig was a 3/8 oz lindy sinker, barrel snap, 2.5 to 3 foot flouro leader to a teardrop floater(northland) with a minnow, leech,or crawler… hope some of this info helps.

We must have seen each other out there at some point yesterday. I was fishing the same general area in the morning. I was in a green Explorer with a 90 Merc on the back. I had my limit and was out of there by 11AM or so. I didn’t catch a keeper on live bait but plastics were triggering the nicer fish to bite. I think I know which boat you were in but not positive. I am not aware of much going on around me when I am trying to get bit

yeah i did see you. we were in a ranger angler with a 115 yamaha. my dad was in camo n red and i was in all black.we found the fishing to be better towards dark as we didnt have a keeper in the boat until 6. we were the 1s that were going in behind the boats. smallie heaven. i think i also remember you from a couple years ago.we had an old blue bass boat and you were up behind the boats with i think your son im not sure but we came and fished that same spot. does your boat say team redneck on it?

The Team Redneck decals got removed once my son figured out he was way too visible with them on. I hit the spot you guys were in right at daylight but the walleyes weren’t up in there. I am usually fishing with my son but he is in Army Basic right now so I was solo yesterday. I’m pretty sure I know which boat you were in. Next time stop and say Hi. I think we even fished by each other for a few minutes about 10AM or so. I was the boat that got checked by the game warden. I caught a fish and put in the live well and he came right over to me through the crowd. I guess it was a slow day and he hadn’t seen many keepers caught. I had 4 fish in the livewell and he wanted to see the smallest. When I opened the livewell he said never mind. I guess he was worried people were keeping short walleye but none of mine were close to short and they were all sauger anyway.

i know exactly which boat you were. yeah we did fish by eachother for a little bit and you put the smackdown on the saugs while we were next to you. im suprised he didnt come and check us when we were back in behind the boats becauses we were by ourselves and im pretty sure he seen us catch a few smallies. oh well tho. i know ive hit that spot so many times since the first day i seen you up in there when we fished next to you guys and have only caught 2 walleyes there since.but both were nice fish(26,24) both on cranks after dark.do you plan on going out this weekend to p3 or 4 or going somewhere else for opener
