    Hey all,
    I’m planning a trip with a friend and our kids (4 kids between 7 and 10). Last year we did Mille Lacs and had a rough time. Granted we went late in the season and the weather was horrible, but I’m looking for suggestions for another lake. We’re looking for a sleeper rental within 3 hours of the cities; any kinds of bite is fine. We’re just wanting the kids to catch fish.

    Winnie is a little further, but a good lake for consistent action. Lots of smaller perch can keep the kids busy, and if it turns on can be really good. High Banks is a solid resort.

    I know LOTW is further than 3 hrs but kids will catch all day be warm and easy access to on and off ice.

    I would think about looking into a place in western MN or SD. Big Stone lake is a great destination lots of good perch and walleye lakes out there and different places that rent ice castles as well.
