Well, I think this full moon phase had a big impact on the crappie fishing at Rathbun this past weekend, and if I’d remembered that, I’d have stayed home and worked. Took all day to scratch out a 20 fish limit larger than 10 inches. Biggest went 14″, but only had one of those, and the rest averaged 10″ to 11″. The stripes were going bonkers and hit anything you ran by them. Mostly coon bait for this upcoming season. Shad were everywhere and that bodes well for the future,as there are a lot of 2 and 3 year old crappie right now. If we get decent ice this winter, I think Rathbun will be very good for crappies thru the ice.
Saw a lot of boats trolling and drifting for eyes but never got close enough to see if anyone was catching anything.
