Northern,gill net pics.Apr-04

    Was at the Spirit Lake hatchery this morning.DNR started their annual process of bringing in the gill nets.They were “milking” eggs from the females while we were there.We could not look at any of the walleyes or muskies as the tanks were roped off while they worked on the northern.Here are a few pictures.

    DNR gives the northern and muskies a mild sedative so they do not thrash around while they get handled.It is a very neat process to watch this whole process from the injection of the shot,milking,and recovery period.Hope you enjoy.

    These northern were out of East and Spirit Lake.I’ll be going up in the near future to get more pics.
