Gill nets

    With almost all the ice out of the Iowa Great Lakes region it’s time to start to think about gill net time by the DNR.Once they start this process the Spirit Lake Hatchery will be open 24 hours a day for a few weeks.You can go in at all hours to look at the fish that have been brought in.You will see some huge walleye,muskie,and northern.It’s a great time to take the kids so they can see these great fish up close.

    Just talked to the Hatchery in Spirit Lake.They will not be open 24 hours a day this year when netting starts.Hours will be 7:30 am until 10:00 pm.It looks like April 9th will be the first day of netting.I’ll try to get a few pics posted once it starts.

    Ryan, will they bring Musky through there too?

    Yes Wade alot of musky will be brought in.They will have 50″ + fish in the tanks to look at.It is so awesome to be that close to such a huge fish.Also alot of eyes will be at or around the 10# mark.
