    What are you guys using as a backing on your fly reels for icefishing?

    I my self have a TON of Stren 6lb copolymer line and thats what I used, others talked about using some type of fly backing.

    Tip Up line works just fine

    Tip up line will work fine like the dacron or there is also fly line. Backing also I use the flyline backing.

    Thanks! I was looking for this post. I couldn’t remember if people were use tip up line. Found out working at 3M I get a deal on their Flyreels.

    I have heard of guys using foam pipe insulation, wrapping it around the reel and securing it with tip up line. Sounds like it should work.
