GPS disappeared from my Humminbird 898

On Wednesday, it ran fine. Yesterday, the GPS took a while to find my coordinates, then lost them, then found them, then lost them for good. Then the unit lost all pages dealing with GPS. The down and side imaging seem to be working fine, just nothing to do with GPS. Scroll the page menu and they are totally gone.

Any suggestions, other than throwing it in the lake or sending it in for repair? Any recommended repair centers? It’s only two years old, for gosh sakes.

Fortunately, if I’m not fishing huge water, it’s not a crisis. Yet.

did you just recently do any updates? If so what version?

Thanks. That gives me a decent starting point. I do have a chip in the unit, so that’s the first thing to try when I get home today.

The only other thing I noticed was that on startup, it did say it was updating. Doesn’t it need to be connected to a computer for that, or is it a satellite thing? Seems I should know that.

Had same problem and I did a similar fix to it.
