The ice is officially out on Rainy: http://www.ifallsdailyjournal.com/node/2900

The official part means that you can travel by boat from Ranier to Kettle Falls. We fished Black Bay on May 1 and found 52-58 degree water. Some have been fishing pike on open bays for 2 weeks. What’s really remarkable is that we drove wheelers out April 15 on 30-36″ of ice and some were still driving pickups!

There a lot of options this time of year. Trolling plugs shallow (5-10′), pitching jigs with minnows or plastic shallow, fishing jig and minnow in 20-40′, pulling spinners or slip sinker rigs with minnows, etc.
