A friend of mine is looking to buy a .308 lever action. Does anybody have one of these that they would be willing to part with.

    Thanks, Jeff

That may be tough to find, and you can only shoot round nosed ammo with it. Why not just buy a 30-30?

Many of the .308 lever are magazine fed. I have an uncle that just sold one…He has a bunch of Winchester Model 88’s. They are awesome guns. He head shoots all his does and is very accurate with it. I’ll see if he has the other one he wants to sell.

I think your talking about the Savage model 99.

Lever action with an internal brass rotary clip or a box clip that drops out the bottom.

Another vote for the BLR .308. I’ve had mine for 20 years, never a problem. I’ve even used it out west for mulies. Small and lightweight!

I have a savage model 99dl in 308. If you are familiar with them they have a rotary magazine. PM me if interested.

I have the same model only in a .300

It was my grandfathers gun and it’s amazingly accurate. One year I had a “pro” sight it in for me and it was tough to get the gun back. His exact words were, “name your price”.

It also has the rotary magazine, but I have used pointed tip ammo, should I not be??

The idea of the rotary magazine was so you could use pointed rounds. The model 99 is one of the classic deer rifles.
