hopefully this improves hunting next year I don’t need an intensive harvest of 5 deer but I wouldnt mind shooting one doe for the freezer without burning my buck tag!
That is not down by as much as I had thought it would have been. I have no problem with the changes they made to the season. If anything it should have been done a few years earlier. Our party went 0 for 5 on doe permits. We did however end up with 4 bucks, so overall it was a better than expected season for us. We did see a few doe’s that we had to let pass. Hopefully each of those will result in 3 additional deer to the deer herd next season. Now if mother nature helps out and does not hammer them hard for another winter. Hopefully the herd can turn back around and begin to return to the #’s from 5 or 6 years ago in our area.
I think lottery doe tags should be the future. Worked good in the past. If everybody was allowed a deer every year we would have none and no individual should receive preferential treatment. Share with friends and hopefully everyone can eat a little venison every year. Just my opinion.
