i guide on the lower wisconsin river and i use suckers most of the time .bullheads are a better bait for two reasons . 1 they stay alive longer .2 they are natural bait in that body of water . i do agre that sun fish and blue gills are good bait too .keeping anything alive is tought. i took a 12 inch pvc pipe 24 inches long and put ends on it and a 6 foot cable on it and in keep bait alive for weeks . i have found out over 20 years of fishing and guiding that there is no best bait . . the place you put your bait is more importion .hope to see you on the water . umpie wis river guide service

i agree that those baits are the best for flat heads . i guide for catfish and i start with thse baits . those cat fish normally bite at night and the fresher the bait the better . i have found that flat heads bite normally from 1-4 hours after dark to 1 -2 hour before and after sunrise .use big bait 4-12 inches long and again the fresher the better . i hook my bait in the tail with 5/0 to10-0 circle hooks. that type of hook needs no hook set and the bait has more action . need more imfortion e-mail me on my report page . good luck and keep your line tight . umpie wis river guide service

those are all the right places to look and live bait is the best bait also . if you are going for a lots of pounds you should go for channels . there is more of them and they are easier to ketch . in my guiding business the big flat heads are easier to ketch at night .good luck and have fun ..umpie @wis river guide service
