I had the same situation with my striker ice bag as few people have already mentioned, haven’t broken a rod yet but could see it coming. I ended up buying Scheels Ultimate Case but still using the Striker bag on the ice, nice having all of that gear condensed. Just have to be mindful when loading and unloading the rods and when not out on the ice fishing, they are in the hard case.

Thanks for the nice message Scott, greatly appreciate the suggestions and advice for additional things to bring in case of problems. That is a terrific picture you attached and just another reason of what my wife and I are looking forward to this season. Good luck this season!!

I bought the Grizzly last year and really like it. It has plenty of room for gear, set up and take down is very efficient, plenty of room for two people to fish multiple holes and tows good. Cons, heavy if you have to load in the back of a truck if space is an issue, I am fortunate I can pull it in and out of trailer. All that said, I don’t think you can go wrong with either product, have fun in your search.

I to have the Striker Ice Rod bag, love the product but nonetheless you have to mindful of this situation when putting rods away. I would prefer not to drag a hard case around on the ice but appears to be the best protection available. Looking to purchase the Scheels Ultimate Ice Rod Case or something similar this year.

I was in the same situation last year, I went to the Thorne Bros “Portable Customizing Contest”, this year it is Sept 28th. Eskimo, Clam & Otter had all of their models out, plenty of reps from each company, 20% off on just about everything and I don’t remember a better discount than that at any of the other shows I went too, for shacks anyway.

I have a site reserved at Roger’s for a couple of weekends, first time ever going to Red for me and it cannot come soon enough.

I have the Striker Ice Rod Transporter, very handy with the additional storage capabilities but looking to purchase the Scheel’s Ultimate Rod case this year for added protection during transport on the ice.

I own an ION X 8″ and it has worked great for me, overall I am pretty new to ice fishing but it really does work well. When I bought it I was determined to buy a gas auger but the guys at TB talked me into it.

With that said, when the ice starts to get thicker, like 22″ last weekend where I was, you start to see benefits of gas, especially if you are going to move a few times throughout the day. I will definitely be adding a gas auger to my equipment by next year.

Thanks for all of the advice and suggestions, sounds like I could probably be just fine with what I have currently but I am looking for an excuse to purchase another one, thanks again!
